I for one will never set foot in that over priced place again. I know that it has a Warrington post code but no where in its posh new commercial does it say anything about the town that it is nearly in. Leigh. It actualy says its near Warrington. Talk about snobbery. All Leythers should boycott the place and fight for a garden centre in Leigh.

But it is in Warrington though. The clue is the signs when you cross the border

So is Golbourne, but most people relate it to Wigan. Bents is about 500 yards outside Leigh. Warrington is about 5 miles away.

Bents is in Warrington Cheshire , not Leigh Lancs .

Up until a couple of years ago the "Leigh" sign was just on the far side of the exit from Bents!! Did an army from Cheshire invade from Glazebury and claim the extra ground to the Greyhound??

Clare Farm was a good garden centre dont know why it shut probably not enough custom i suppose.

The Optimists are keen gardeners and swear by Bents, quality comes at a price we say, and Bents certainly provide quality. Granted we only buy the occasional packet of seeds, but let me tell you that the germination rates are prolific! Also Mrs. Optimist informs me that the Beckhams used to shop there.


In conclusion - On most of our visits to Bents we actually buy nothing, just peruse the merchandice pretending we're "10 bob snobs" where as in reality we actually get most of our gear from Wilkinsons in the town centre.

Thats why I opened it too.

We have got a garden centre in Leigh, the one just short of the Greyhound on the Lancs. OK its no Benst but the plants are very good quality and its dirt cheap. Me and the Mrs usually have a look round Bents then go here to buy and the prices are about 75% cheaper.

Bents is extortionate, and we only ever go there near crimbo too take the kids around the dispay.

Lots of negative responses here - typical of some folk on this forum !

There are quite a number of people in Leigh who depend on people going to Bents to spend money as it pays their wages! Some of them appeared in the advert too!

Life is about choices, you can choose to go and spend money in a shop or choose not to! Just because you choose not to, does that give you the right to call those who do 'snobs' ?

Wether its in Warrington, Leigh or Timbuctoo, it doesn't really matter does it?

It's like being in a playground at times with some of you lot!

The point of this post was. Why do Bents say that they are near to Warrington when they are just outside the border of Leigh?

Because Warrington have a SL team and Leigh doesn't (yet)??
