Trying to find out just how the 1,000+ at the Mount today compares against Batley's average crowd, but is it just me or are anything other than this weekend's crowds an absolute nightmare to find online?

For Batley it was a good gate but Leigh fans were there in numbers.

Attendance figures for today are now on Sporting Life and they don,t make good reading.

Not entirely sure (hence my desire to double check the facts) but I think Batley have only been averaging around the 500 mark this season so it's a decent figure from their point of view (almost entirely due to our away support, it must be said).

As daft as it may seem, I thought we had more at Batley today than we did at Widnes.

Think we just about shaded it at Widnes, but certainly no more than 100 in it. And you might be on to summat with the cheesy chips (though I'm more of a chilli and chips man), just shows what a good day out can do to an away following.

Surprisingly, the RFL website has al the attendances. Matches can be filtered per team. Most of them seem correct, although Barrow's game vs Haven has the lower figure of 2,910 when it was actually 3,202.

I see the chairman of both Batley and Oldham have both gone on record as saying they will stand aside if anyone else wants to run their club, dire days ahead for Rugby League unfortunately, the RFL have to step in soon and sort the financial mess out or when all the other clubs have gone they will find out that they needed us 'lower tier' clubs. Rugby League outside SL (and a few in it) is dying on its feet and a better spread of the TV cash is required NOW, restrict the SL clubs even further, stop Championship and div 1 clubs paying out stupid money, patch things up with BARLA, and its got to be done SOON.
All clubs will have to make harsh decisions regarding playing staff (I include coaching staff in there as well) wages, better relations with their amateur neighbours, or as a sport we are doomed, doomed I say doomed.
