3rd TACKLE 8M out from the Batley line & Maden contrives to get himself sin binned,they go up the other end of the field & score.What a complete imbecile,Kelly should of told him to go & get changed & not to bother picking up his wages.I think they scored10/12 points whilst he was off.What a silly boy.

Bit harsh. He got penalised for the same offence twice and I'm not sure why? In both cases I thought he was just trying to for a quick play-the-ball. First one, the sin binning he had a big Batley forward lying on top of him, the second, similar and Maden's reaction was one of disbelief.

Got to admit his 2nd sinbin was very harsh IMO.

I don't think he's (Maden) been the same player since he came back from Haven to be honest.

Steve himself says he's prefers centre though and that's where he started at Saints. I agree he's a better winger and what I've seen of Sam Reay he's a better centre than Maden.

for what its worth (nothing if you think like si) i for one think that was the major turning point, certainly of the 2nd half, we were slowly getting back into it, maybe somebody who has seen the dvd could express an opinion.

To me the thing with Steve was he was busting a gut to try to get us back into the match , he was coming inside taking alot of early ball to try to get us on a roll

He was being held down when trying to get quick PTB 's and ended up getting involved in some ' handbags ' which resulted in the Yellow being shown

You are correct in stating that the whole team did not play well,however the whole team did not manage to lose possession on the 3rd tackle 8m from the opponents try line, just when a revival looked possible & somehow contrive to get themselves sin binned.I stand by my original post,LRLFC must sort out its disciplinary problem & on Sundat Maden was the biggest & most stupid culprit.Hitting the players in the pocket may just make them think twice about doing stupid things on the pitch & therefore it will help the team win.

i ave seen the dvd and ave watched that incident a few times and for the life of me cant see wot maden had done wrong, and for wot its worth i think its a complete disgrace this thread about one player when you could point the blame at a number of players it seems a bit of a witch hunt IN MY OPINION

well i defend your right to hold and express that opinion, nowt against maden, but that particular incident had a major baring on the game, i of course was not the originator of this thread.

We was too far away and didnt see what Maden did and therefore, wont pass comment. To be fair on the lads there were the two last penalty goals Batley kicked, both were unjustified, they happened right in front of us, Morty was as baffled as us, with the one that went against him. That ref is always very picky.

Generally agree about what Ste was trying to do and that some of the reactions have been a bit harsh. However, it's got to be asked - if you've done something once and not just been penalised but also been sinbinned for it - why do exactly the same thing again? If a ref's being harsh on us in 1 area we need to learn to concentrate on keeping our discipline in that area, if we see something he's being lenient on we should try it a bit more. We just don't seem to be thinking at the moment.

As for the defence - we were sloppy in other areas but mainly on our right. I couldn't see where it was breaking down for most of the tries Batley scored down that side, but we know from the end result each time that it wasn't right. On that wing we had Maden with Watson inside him. In previous seasons at Leigh Maden's defence would have been more than solid enough, although generally IMHO his form hasn't been 100% this season so far. I've also seen Watson tackle above his weight before as well, and the one thing Watson should have in his favour is the experience to see what's going wrong and know how to fix it. Neither of them are young naive lads - they can both do it. But something wasn't working, and whatever it was needed to be addressed. Personally I was disappointed that no less than 4 tries had been scored down that wing before Tony Stewart was brought on and we tried to sure things up a bit - IMHO if we'd reacted quicker in addressing that 1 issue, we could have won the game.
