No it's not one defeat, as Leigh well know SM has underacheived with the players he has had for 3 years now. We're not fickle.
And I very much doubt we'd go for Ned, and I doubt he'd leave a secure job at Leigh for a job at Widnes anyway. |

McCormack Leaves Vikings
[iWidnes Vikings have this morning parted company with Head Coach Steve McCormack.
Vikings' Chief Executive Alex Bonney said, "Since joining the Club twelve months ago I cannot fail to be impressed with the work undertaken by Steve who almost single handedly built a team from scratch to reach the play offs. Prior to this he led the Club to two Grand Finals and a Northern Rail Cup victory and this morning's decision was reached amicably."
Steve McCormack added, "It's a disappointing day but I have really enjoyed my time at Widnes. The Club has suffered many ups and downs both on and off the field and I hope that eventually it achieves its goal of a return to the top flight competition"
In the interim, assistant coach John Stankevitch will take over in a caretaker capacity.[/i |

Neil Kelly would be an obvious choice for first appointment, much loved still in the town and he also still visits (and has spoken to Mr O'connor although i think that was a friendly chat). Just depends what size the compo dished out to Leigh is if we go for him. Other than that ill settle for Ellery Hanley.
