Weird eh ?

We could go back to franchising if you like.
Or we can get ourselves in the top two with a sensible business plan drawn up by someone who rescues and grows businesses for a living, which then gives us 300000 reasons why we've a better chance of kicking on in 2015 than not.
Or we can just not bother and sit at home moaning about it.

| Just slightly wary that we all don't go OTT with expectation levels.
Leigh are 4th best this year for a very good reason and the other 3 teams above us for me are well in front of us (in Fev's case a long way in front) so some catching up on the field just to get to where they are now - at least 2 of those 3 teams will be strengthening as we are for the 'push' next season !
The other 'nag' is RL isn't as popular as we all think, a succession of exceptionally poor decisions by the governing body and club chairmen has meant many view RL games as not that important thus many pick & choose - we have to do a 'Keighley Cougar Mania' type thing to swing peoples opinions and ensure as many people want to watch Leigh play Dewsbury 9with respect) as they do Leigh play Fev otherwise we are going to struggle.
For me that's the hard part as RL has fallen way down the ladder in peoples thoughts so the BOD / BOM have a huge huge job, its not to say it can't be done but even if we played RL like Brisbane Bronco's or won as many games as possible I really don't think that will give us a huge additional support swing we need - we have to think out the box and come up with something that 'bucks the trend', things are happening and its all looking exceptionally positive but lets keep things realistic as talk of top 2 creates a boom & bust mentality that carries goodwill when we do well but causes fractions and arguments when we have a blip.
Lets be cautiously excited and do this proper.

Doesn't every sport club?
If utd get robbed in the champions league group stage or the ball bounces off someone backside and they get knocked out they lose tens of millions. It doesn't stop them having a go.
That's sport.
What the club are doing is plan a and plan b.
Plan A gives us a fighting chance in 2015 when we get to the tumble drier stage (8/8/icon_cool.gif and the chance pick our wits against the 9th to 16th best teams in the UK for a chance to get into SL1 for 2016.
Plan B means we don't and we fight it put with the 17th to 24th best teams. And with the income we would generate, probably for a very long time.
That's the way it's set up. No business plan in the world can change the rules.
Now we either fight like hell to get there together, which is more than sustainable or we just don't bother and sit there moaning for the next millennium.
Either way the club will still be there.
Now is the chance for us all to prove to ourselves and everyone else that this town wants a successful rugby league club.

Thanks.
We're trying to fix what we can as fast as we can and get positivity out there so we can stop wading in mud.
It's not perfect and its not easy. But we are getting there.
You're welcome to get involved.

Surely a plan is about giving you every chance of success but nothing can be guaranteed in anything anyone does yet some win and some lose
I would rather have a real go than not bother due to fear of failure, so it seems fairly simple to me- lets go for it

So Alan, are you saying that finishing in the top 2 next season is more important than getting in new spectators? This seems to contradict all previous statements from the BOM that have clearly stated we have to get the crowds up. We have to aim next season to finish in the top 2, but also play entertaining rugby. IMHO.

No, I'm not saying that. None of this will work without attracting (many) more spectators. I'm definitely all for playing more attractive rugby, but we do have to win matches, or we will be stuck where we are. It's my belief that there is more to the huge reduction in crowds than the style of rugby being played. Only Featherstone, in our league, have not suffered a massive reduction in gates this year - ironically, their supporters told me that they had been playing "boring, one man rugby" (their words) under Powell and Sheridan, until Sean Long arrived and brightened things up - so, are all the Championship teams playing boring rugby?
Take Sheffield, for instance - a highly attractive, exciting team to watch, and look at their support.
All I'm trying to say is that there is more to add to the mix, than attractive rugby, to get the supporters in. Let's see what the BOD/BOM come up with, in the coming weeks and get behind them. They have a plan and are putting their money (and time and expertise) where their mouths are. I believe they deserve the support of anyone who wants to see this club and town rise out of the doldrums.
Oh, and let's credit them with a bit more sense than adopting a 'boom or bust' mentality!

| Some maths, coming 1/2 by reaching GF is 300k more than coming 3rd
To get 300k more revenue via the gate based on£10 per head revenue we need 2000 fans per game more
Which do you feel is more likely???
We need everybody interested in the future of Leigh Centurions backing the club next year because if a Koukash doesn't ride over the hill then we are where we will ever be

Absolutely with you on getting more through the turnstiles.
My maths says we need an extra 2,300 spectators to make up that £300k.
(i.e. 2,300 x £10 x 13 home league games = £299k)
So we'd be looking at average gates, next season, of about 3,800 - 4,000 to make up that shortfall. I'd love that to happen, but it's a pretty tall order.

| The Watcher needs to realise that £10 is probably an average ticket price taking into account full/concession/junior admissions minus LSV rent minus VAT. Although you may have realised that and are just being sarcy

| Had the 'Watcher' been watching carefully, over the past year or so, he would have indeed seen a price of £10 being quoted as average income after taking into account the various deductions quoted by Demon. Either the Watcher is being flippant, or he really does need to watch and pay attention!
