A very solid player under those coaches. Players like this usually make very good coaches so good luck to Andy. I personally liked the way he played the game.

I hear we tried to get a restraining order against Featherstone given their obsession with us, but the judge deemed it unnecessary as they can't get near us anyway.

Featherstone have recently declared they have investors committed to inject '£millions' and who now expect a top 4 Super League finish within a few years.

It therefore seems a tad strange they appoint a head coach with no professional first team coaching experience to over see it all.

Reminds me of when we assembled a fantastic squad, blending youth and experience the year after we came down from Super League. A squad that should really have walked promotion blind folded and yet we blew it all by appointing an unknown kids coach from New Zealand in charge. A complete disaster.

Same initials as the 'kids coach' that Featherstone appointed for this season.

I guess that's the point, at least Andy Hay has been coaching the 1st team players. Whether he is the man to get us into SL or beyond (challenging for the top 4) only time will tell. However I do remember people on here going "Paul who" when PR was apointed for Leigh and he hasn't done a bad job for your lads.

I meant in a coaching capacity, to be honest we said the same about Daryl Powell (me included) and how wrong we were.

I also hope Andy Hay does well, we do not have enough young British coaches in the game. I just find given their ambition it is a surprising choice.

Mind you having said all that, Charlie's mate down the road at Salford made an equally surprising choice in appointing young Iestyn. Although I do hope he eventually prospers into an outstanding coach.

Who knows, they may even win a game under Isetyn, soon!

I think it could be a good appointment - Fev would be unlikely to be able to attract a top overseas coach anyway so it makes sense to appoint a British coach, may as well be someone who could turn out to be a Paul Rowley rather than go for someone who has been there and done it (or more likely hasn't)...e.g. Cullen...
