I was in the catholic club last night and it was packed with everybody glued to the screen.
How do we persuade these people who obviously love rugby league to go the sports village.
The true leythers are not the people we need to concentrate on.
I think we would have struggled for 1200 if we had played last night'"
If that's true, and i'm not agreeing or disagreeing, we just have to be a bit more savvy about when we play our Friday night games. It's not TV that's dictating when we play on a Friday. We have to avoid all Wigan/Wire/Saints derbies and I think a Leigh game would win out over anything else.

Basically,it's Swinton's home fixtures that are dictating when we play our Friday games, so we are currently limited in when we can play those games.

For ditherers read 'stayaways'.....the sort of 'fan' who will find any excuse not to go!! - and we all know quite a few of them......most of them re-appear for cup finals, etc!!
For me the future financial safety of the club is dependent on finding 'new blood'....get 'em young - before they develop allegiances for SDL clubs, or cast our net in non rugby areas (like Bolton). Persue the 'book of tickets' idea. Offer family deals, and take a punt on opening up the East stand, as a 'family friendly' area? These initiatives would require a degree of 'flexibility' from our landlords, and maybe sponsorship.....but we can't be scared of at least trying new things to boost the crowds, (like the Season Ticket thing....good idea, but needs the other Champ clubs on board to make it work, or Friday night fixtures) - 'cos I genuinely believe, if the product on the pitch is entertaining (and we have already seen evidence that the current squad are capable of providing this), and we can get the crowds to steadily build, the 'stayaways' get curious, and you can drag a few back into the fold!! It's not just about survival - it's about making the club as good as it is possible to be at any point in time. We aren't in SDL (and might never be!).....but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't strive to be the best supported and most successful club outside SDL, and send a message to them that they don't know what they are missing!!!......and that goes for the 'stayaways' as well!!

Probably the same fans that tried to kick off with me and Wurzel in Blackpool as there were 15 of them, the same 'fans' that turn up when we play Wigan or big cup games, but you never see their faces when we play Hunslet.

| Think the hardcore/never-miss-a-game fans are completely missing the point.
Unless Leigh uncover a marketing strategy that has the LSV packed to the rafters whenever there's a home game, the club does need the ditherers and the fairweather fans. The club needs every paying spectator it can get.
As it stands, playing on a Friday night or a Sunday afternoon and clashing with SL or EPL is causing folk to make a choice. Some will choose SL or EPL = lost revenue to the club. This is why Saturday tea-time is a no-brainer to me.
Until the club can sell out its home games on a regular basis, regardless of whatever the competition is, it needs to be savvy about when it chooses to stage its games.

This coming weekend, both Leigh and Swinton (v Batley) were given home fixtures by the RFL. Only one team could play on Sunday. We chose to move to Friday. That's the case on about four occasions this season. I would suggest that, but for such clashes of home fixtures, we wouldn't have been playing on Fridays.

I'm sure you are right as to this, however it remains an ill considered decision when we are pitching directly against the Wire v Saints game & other SL fixtures which always tend to be the biggest fixture in a particular round. The people contributing an opinion on this forum are the die hard fans and the simple fact is at least 95% of us will be at the game this Friday irrespective of the competition.
However the attendances thus far have been disappointing at best and there appears to be a step in the right direction with fetch Bob, but is that it?? At what point are we going to realise we need to attract Leythers and those without season tickets or Touchdown memberships in order to boost attendances and thus revenues? I for one genuinely fear for where we are going after all the good work which was done on the back of Arthur pulling out as quite simply we must now be losing money and the losses will be increasing even further after Friday.

| if we want to play on a sunday, and obviously i do, then surely its not impossible for the fixture planners to of been told to ensure leigh home one weekend, swinton home next, is that asking to much. anyway i will of course be watching leigh/york and taping the wolves/saints game, but as has been said people who come on hear are leigh fans.

It is awesome, however completely irrelevant in the context of this thread.
You and others within LISA do a great job, however you need to see the bigger picture in this instance as the marketing within the club is becoming somewhere between farcical and non-existent - basic fact, we need 1800 to break even.

The marketing/sales has always been somewhere between farcical and non existent for many years. Having no sense of direction is where it starts (clear mission statement) and this doesn't help our ill thought out scatter gun approach to sales.

I would make the call that we are looking to attract tomorrows fans by subsidising admission cost today - I would confirm the policy will run for all League home games this season and formulate a strategy to sell it.
My strategy off the cuff would be to SELL parent/child (Primary School age) tickets at £15 North or West stands up to 1 day before kick off, the child and adult ticket to be stamped to show the offer and entry via nominated turnstyles - at which point I would be SELLING junior centurions membership benefits and giving the kids try cards etc Parky would be at these gates from 30 mins before ko.
When purchasing the tickets I would obtain data for future use - a reward being that they will receive exclusive offers via email.
I would target all under 11 teams in all sports across Leyth Bent n Bongs - I would pay that club a 10% commision on all sales they make (more thought needed here of course) - these are kids interested in sports whose parents get off their ar$es and take them - many are women and it is this area I would particularly focus our efforts.
Above is the bones, the flesh needs putting on. Hope that helps - how would you do it?

| We've had 'community' for years and they cannot sell it. They turn up and give freebies out to kids at school and we wonder why it fails, the only ones who go, go anyway.
Repeat 10 times SELL not TELL............ this is not a quick fix, it needs consistency and continuity.

This is were you are wrong they do the hard work and then the club havent backed them up in the past with the ticket offers. Arthur didn't beleive in giving tickets away for one.
