Being a business man first and foremost I think that (if this is all true about him leaving) Derek will want some of the investment back if he goes. The club is not going to say he is sacked as every man and his dog will be on the phone.

Apparently Derek has announced it in his Leigh Observer Column. Something about pursuing something away from the game. He has agreed to release him but protected the clubs interests at the same time.

A shame it hasn't worked out. Thought he could have taken us to the next level but he has just never got going and is clearly a troubled guy off the field.
Still, you can't miss what you've never really had. 5 games (and he went off injured in 2 of them) is a poor return on a supposed star player.
Guess it frees up a huge chunk of salary cap though as I would imagine he was the highest paid player in the Championship. Doubt Drinkwater is on anything like Rangi's wages and hopefully will prove to be a more reliable and committed player.

Rugby League in general has lost one of the most gifted players to ever grace a field on his day. The bloke has issues but I wish him all the best . The bloke needs help and I hope he gets the support he needs . Will he make a recovery when Toronto are recruiting? Just a thought ...

| In the bookies this morning,a bloke said Rangi must be Leigh's worst ever signing I said no way , Leigh received plenty of publicity from his signing, my vote for worst ever signing is split between Bramwell Booth a centre we signed from Wigan in the 60s, and Alan Mason, I think he was a Kiwi, who played at half back in the 80 's. |

Sad news. He said he came to Leigh to try & fall in love with the game again so it's a real shame he hasn't been able to. However with his well documented issues, constant reoccurring injuries every time he recovers picking up another one and people desperate for him to fail you can understand why he's said "Sod this." A real shame as undoubtedly a fantastic player. All the best for whatever you do in the future Rangi, the majority of Leigh fans did & do wish you well.

Been watching rugby for 55 years and never seen anything like this guy at his best

It's obvious there's more to this than the statements from the club but I do admire the way the club has played their part in an unhappy situation.
There's been many sportsmen who haven't fulfilled huge potential and in many cases had issues around that.
My own failures are not well known and I dread to think what would have happened if they were. |

His problems were well known, imo we should not of signed him. Hope he gets help obviously, but at least he wont be using up our valuable salary cap.

What injuries? Don't fall for that one, there is nothing physically wrong with him and hasn't been all season. I'm surprised there hasn't been more of an uproar at how your owner has treated the fans once again through spinning his lies. It was the same with Rowley and Brierley, now Chase. |
