Why Leigh ?



the difference between Championship and Champ 1 is as wide as Championship and Non relegation league.

Well bad as I thought we were last season we won 9 and lost 11.Thats not relegation it is cruelty.

Never mind losing to Batley and Gateshead(shambolically) 5 minutes to go away at Haven and because the previous seasons Champ 1 player of the year didn,t bend his back we didn,t even get a bonus point.

It was 12 apiece with 5 minutes to go.

I think the angle you are taking this is a strange one. It would be keeping us up in the championship. Just like what has happened to us in the past. . Leigh Genesis stayed up a couple of times due to unforeseen circumstances. Its logical that the team having played a higher calibre of opposition should stay up rather than a team that failed to beat lesser teams as such to get promoted out right.

But its all a nothing conversation anyway because I can't see it happening. Think Gateshead will get the nod and they will try to stay up.

It would have been sorted today but the RFL have not yet made a decision on Gteshead and I still have concerns for Oldham. maybe thats why the delay.

Should both go,and that would indeed be bad news, 1 division is the only alernative imo.

Well I haven,t but there was a post on here yesterday from a lad who is suffering as a result of whats happened to his club.

He says mostly amateurs next season. Provided they get the nod.

they'll wriggle out of it no doubt we aren't that lucky to stay up in the championship!

it seems like Gateshead are effectively a new club (new parent company anyway), so a) it doesn't make sense to deduct 9 points from a new club and b) they would need to apply, as a new club, just like anyone else, to come back into the leagues.

Now to borrow GLOW's well-worn argument, why should they automatically be accepted into the Championship? Does Leigh not have a stronger case? If, in a straight fight, the RFL would pick a very weak Gateshead club, then I think that would be an absolute disgrace.

Well has as been said thats up to the RFL.

I,m of the opinion that Oldham is a bigger concern for their fans their club us and them ie the RFL.

All we can ask is that the RFL be fair when they make their decision

Surely they should only be able to apply for the champ 1 league or can they ask to stay in championship.
