Without wishing to get involved in a slanging match with a worthy visitor to our forum, I feel I have to pull you up on an inaccuracy in your post. (as highlighted) Your coach and players have mostly been 'at home' these past weeks, living in the UK with their families, while they play all their 'away' matches. Their schedule has been far from 'brutal' involving a maximum trip of about 200 miles from their training base in Manchester. (UK) I accept that they have done exceptionally to lose only one of those away matches, and are red hot favourites to finish top of this league. (by the way, Rowley's last Leigh team also finished top of the Championship, with only one defeat, and then blew it spectacularly in the 'Middle 8's') However, a 'brutal schedule' would be like the one your visiting teams now have to face, travelling to and from Toronto, and playing a tough game in the middle of that. Had Toronto had to face such a schedule, alternating between home and away fixtures, they may now not be looking at the impressive record they are enjoying.

Your points are well taken and simply illustrate the logistical problems which Toronto has faced, currently faces and will face in the future. You must understand that the points you have made pale in comparison to some of our other challenges we have but we will overcome them all.
Our club has a 'Can Do' attitude and we will overcome even though the odds are stacked against us, thats the only option!

I find him comical Cherry. Shares similar attributes to how Leigh fans use to be (myself included) on the ride. Only thing is we all met ourselves on the way back.

If Toronto gain promotion to SL then I'll wish them well. Unfornunately Rowley as seen against Warrington is still playing to a style that we all know won't get you into the promised land.

No offence taken, I've heard such comments before but the facts make a logical person beg to differ. Just look at the stats./math don't lie.
If you tally Rowleys record as a pro coach just look at the won/lost including his time at Leigh/Toronto and beforehand. The winning per centage number is very, very high. Could well be the highest of all active League coaches in the world! Bottom line is that its a pro sport and you are in it to win it. Hard to argue with his winning stat numbers.

Just to let you know, Paul Rowley is very highly thought of in Toronto. His standard of dress, deportment, and interactions with the fans is of the highest and most dignified order. Those are the facts, and, "NO, I am not Paul Rowleys brother....I totally deny it!"

But all Rowleys coaching has come in the lower leagues with budgets that where far and away more than the other teams in the division and as soon as it was levelled in the middle 8s he failed miserably

It is true and was indeed very brave. I'm not sure what it had to do with his integrity or coaching ability though. In fact, the longer this thread goes on, the more confused I become, over what it is all about, anyway!

Its about a big thing, an important thing. I've read all of the threads and people seem to be calling his character into question, both on and off the field. many insults, both personal and professional, have been directed his way.

Some might not like him but his actions on that day, saving the young girl, gives us a direct snapshot and insight into his character....I think he is a standup type guy; I think he is being unfairly demonized.

Toronto is a new beginning for him and his family and he has met the challenge. I think its time for all the Leigh fans to let the Rowley era, both on and off the field, go. Do it not for him but rather yourselves; do it for your Club!

I would take a challenge cup final over top 4 at this moment in Time as I honestly see us losing again and missing out we have the best team in the division in my opinion but the bad start to the season is what as finished us off. Can’t afford lose to every team that got promoted from the lower division and expect top four

Well as good as a challenge cup final would be, top 4 to me seems essential as the goal must be SL - if not this season then we need to keep the core of the season for next, it is now showing what it's capable of, not making top 4 would kill us financially

I reckon we may get away with 2 more losses and squeeze in, but capable of winning all champ games from here in

I’m going to go to Toronto to take in the game. Should I get the chance I will shake the hand of all ex Leythers, PR included. Ya know why.
Because it’s water under the bridge, and perpetuating the perceived issues serves nobody. Sport is sport, not life an death. Life is too short. I support Leigh, my dad supported Leigh. Many others do the same for Leigh or their chosen team.
BUT
Bottom line I support my team and respect anyone who supports their team.........

I do support leigh . But I find the way some fans act cringe worthy . The frenzy they build up isnt right . The question ive asked is to the point rather than go the scenic route. Look at some of the reactions after the game , these lads know each other and I bet all are feeling quite let down by themselves . the hate campaign needs to stop . Good on you for wanting to shake the lads hands after the game its how it should be

Peter, you are entitled to your opinion but don’t expect others to support it. People can paint a pretty picture of Rowley all they want to.

The fact still remains Rowley left the club high and dry 2 weeks before the start of the season.

Many have moved on, but that fact will always remain with many.

Personally, I'm not keen on PR the person. However, I'll freely admit that he coached us off the park in the first game this season. Last week was much more even, against KP. So far, he has been proved to be a pretty astute and successful coach. His one big blip was the Middle 8's, where he/the team failed spectacularly! We are about to find out whether he learned from that experience. If Toronto do make it to SL, surely he deserves his chance at the top level?

As for the players who jumped ship, I'll never be convinced that he acted within the laws of the game, on all of them. (neither did the players, probably, for that matter) However, we have only ever heard one side of the story about these players - (especially Ryan Brierley, who initially departed for SL.) I would humbly suggest that, as is the case with all disputes, there are two sides to all those stories.

I really don't want Toronto to succeed. It's nothing to do with the city, the coach, or the players - it's just that I don't think the venture will succeed, whether it be Toronto, New York, or Beijing. I honestly think it could be harmful to the game over here.

As for the 'traitors', I would happily accept some of them back in our team, any day.

A leigh supporter will follow them through good and bad win or lose I’ve had 40. Years of ups and downs but still my team . Overseas teams are not good for uk league weather it Toronto , Catalan or Toulouse
