I can understand why Wigan have selected the team they have, they have another friendly in a few days against Warrington in which they are going to play their main team as they did mostly against Wakefield, they are using this game to see which of their reserve/academy lads are looking to put themselves about for the first team, this game will be more competitive than Wigan sending their big guns and putting 60 on us like Warrington did.

It will be a different game to the Warrington one, in a postive way as we should win and we will hopefully have more of the ball on Sunday to see what we can really do as an attacking threat going forward. Any game against Wigan is one to look forward too and a win in Leigh's favour is on the cards and anyone moaning about missing that as a Leigh fan are crazy, IMO. Sadly I can't be there!

I know Warrington beat us easily last week but where has this notion come from that Wigans best side would do similar?

We got nilled last year but only lost by 30 something and we've got a better squad this season. Also Warrington's side is far superior to the crust munchers lol.

I suppose the problem is we've changed out coach from when that agreement was reached and he wants to do things his way. He wants to have a look at everyone before the start of the season and after our xmas game against Saints being cancelled this is probably the only way he feels he can now do that. With all due respect he'll want to see his first team players get match practice against fellow superleague opposition and with the Wire game scheduled for Wednesday he won't want them playing 3 games in 10 days before the start of the season.

FWIW i'm as dissapointed as anybody and would have hoped he'd have at least given guys like Goulding, Pryce, O'Carroll etc a game aswell as guys like Paleaaesina and Riddell who are working hard on their fitness. I don't see what the harm in that would have been tbh.

Hopefully we'll draw each other in the cup. That would be a proper game at the LSV.

Don't think that it's going to be a walk over. Far from it. They will be coming here to win and will be pumped upIt's only friday and McGuire can change his mind. They will have trained today and again tomorrow. I have to say that if this is the way this fixture is going to be treated by the pies then scrap it. A lot of their fans have paid out to watch the main boys play and are not very happy.

I'd imagine with the team announcment the switchboard at the DW will have lit up for sure.

Don't know how many - although I suspect we would have had more printed, on the basis that we thought the crowd was going to be about 5,000.

I think it would have been better if wigan hadn't announced their team in advance, though true pie fans will want to see their 'younger' players in action, against 1st team opposition, albeit from a lower league. It's not an easy situation. I wouldn't have enjoyed Sunday if Wigans 1st team had thrashed us, but i would have still been looking forward to the game. Maybe a 50% 1st choice/academy would have been better.

Point taken but the least Wigan could do now is agree to forego any share of the gate for reasons already stated.

There's a few sick pies moaning about paying £14 for the academy. Won't supprise me if they have a load asking for their money back. Isn't the Warrington game a testimonial?

IIRC Leigh take all the gate money anyway. I think that was part of the agreement.

They've done us a huge favour by selecting a younger side - we should have a pretty competitive game now; with no other friendlies, another tonking would have taught Millward bugger all about his new side.

I'd still like to know why they arranged a friendly for the Wednesday, knowing they were playing us on Sunday?

Apart from the players, they must know that most of their fans will not go to watch 2 games in one week and therefore we will lose out. They've shafted us good and proper.

The only saving grace is that some may not want to go after work on wednesday and choose our game to get their RL fix.

I suppose the reverse to this is that if Leigh hammer the Junior W!gan side Millward will have also learned bugger all about his new side.

The Humbles have been quite insulting to those who have already purchased a ticket (from both set of fans) with this youthful selection.

Unfortunatly for me its not worth the financial outlay to see.
