He signed a 3 year contract not so long ago

I don't need to tweet him he has already tweeted being under contract
until the end of the year. I get it but what part of that dont you get ?
How else can I explain it to you so it actually registers ?
I admire the fans for their belief in what quotes comes out of the club but
its a bit bizaare when the player is tweeting to a 'rumoured' interested
club' words along the lines of "Im out of contract at the end of the season"?

If he were to go into SL with a Yorkshire club, it would have to be on a spectacularly better contract than the one he was on with his last Yorkshire SL club!

He didn't say 'I'm out of contract at the end of the year', he said 'I'm fully committed to the Centurions till the end of the year'.

The fact is that Ryan has a 3 year contract, however, should he offered a deal he couldn't refuse then said club would have to pay us a fee to get him and I doubt very much that the Board would stand in his way.

However, Ryan knows he is instrumental to our plans and he would be a fool to go to a SL club to play in their reserves when he could help steer us to the promised land.

Personally I don't think Ryan will go anywhere...yet.

Ryan can't be 'offered' a deal, the club can be offered a fee that they can accept or decline and then the contract talks left to the player or not
What is quite obvious here is that our club don't need the money from Derek's statement and if we want that to remain the case we should just carry on as we are doing by backing them through the gate and spreading the word to the lapsed and new fans

Regardless of how it happens, the board wouldn't stand in Ryan's way should he want to move on and they got a decent offer for him, would they?

Look contracts mean nothing at the end of the day. Ryan has a 3 year contract but does that mean we can say with any degree of certainty he will definitely be a Leigh player at the end of his deal. No we can not.

And that's the same for all the Leeds RLFC players and every other contracted player.

If Rob Burrows has a 4 year contract but says he wants to leave Leeds at the end of the season and no longer wants to wear a Leeds shirt , it is very difficult for the Leeds club to then keep an unhappy player to the length of his contract.

That's the way of the world.

John Woods was captain, play maker and all round star man of Rugby League's title winning team. Therefore he was already playing in the best team in Great Britain in 1982.

Why would he wanted to have played for a lesser team like Leeds or St. Helens? Unless of course he does not value his Rugby League Championship winning medal because let's be perfectly honest here, he would not have won one with them teams that's for sure

Harold , Leigh were only Champs in the 81-82 season , Woody played for years before and after this , to call Leeds and Saints lesser teams is just not true , after all who were Champions in the Woody years ?Im not sure , it was a pity he never played at Wembley , both Bradford and Warrington he other big clubs were not really that fashionable .

I should imagine that Brierley will go to Salford at the end of this season and who can blame him. Good luck to the lad. Personally, I think he would be better advised to stay at Leigh for a further season. This would advance his career better than playing reserve SL grade.

I do think that Leigh should be looking for a couple of experienced half backs. One to replace Brierley. The other to put pressure on Ridyard because Ridyard isn't playing anywhere near as good as he is capable of. I wonder if he is carrying an injury. He needs to be rested for a while.

Why would he see the need to? I expect Salford will be playing Leigh in the middle 8 next season (might even be relegated if Bradford get their points back) and if we pay him a decent contract it won't be much different from what Salford would offer.

Certainly not as clear cut as when we were under franchising.

I took it as Ryan assuring us that he has no thoughts of going anywhere this season. That doesn't have to mean that he will be going anywhere else after that, but it's a possibility that he isn't willing to rule out at this stage.

Of course I get it but I cannot read minds and just because someone writes something does not mean it is true. That's why I stopped buying the Daily Telegraph.

To be honest, he doesn't state that he won't be leaving before the end of his contract, however he is contracted beyond this season and is going nowhere this season. The lad is clever and won't lie hence his emphasis on where his loyalties lie at the moment but who knows what the future holds. We can read into it what we like but let's reap hay whilst the sun shines and hope we achieving everything we (including Ryan) wants this year. This may or not determine his future for 2015 but let's support the lad to the hilt and make it emotionally impossible for him to choose to leave for the buck.

I hope to see him play in a Leigh shirt in SL however a rugby career is short and he will want to win something .
he isn't going to win big things at Leigh simple really .

How do you think he would do in SL, we signed jamie Ellis off you and he didn't look good enough, is Brierley a better player and more likely to make SL?

He's worse than Ellis, you won't want him

Two completely different styles of play, TBH saw Brieley as a full back until recently but can now see him at HB in a Danny Maguire type of role

Jesus Christ wouldn't look good enough in the Hull sides of the past couple of years
