| Quote ="Alan"Featherstone have done this, to encourage MORE people to watch the great rugby they are playing. They assume that more people will increase their gates (hopefully to the minimum SL appliaction level) and it will bring MORE money into the club.
We, on the other hand have done this to encourage LESS people into the ground and REDUCE our income.
Are Featherstone fans moaning about their club's identical offer?
Also, you may be doing a dis-service to some of the SUCCESSFUL business people who are pushing this initiative.'"
Good Post and NO I am not about to give business advice to our board of directors, some of whom seem to be quite good at that kind of thing
Oh and yes I think its a great idea, and I am a season ticket holder too.

The whole point of Fev doing it is to boost non ticket revenue also by having more bums on seats as you own the ground & get revenues from the bars, kiosks etc. At Leigh we get none of that.
Hardly rocket science why you have done it, although was possibly a space cadet that thought it could work for Leigh along the same lines.

| Matt its not a witchhunt mate just asking some questions regarding concerns for this idea?
If the club was selling beer to away fans at half price but home fans had to pay full wack would you not be concerned by this? would you not want to see justification and what benifit this would bring to the average leigh fan / pottential fan?
You know im not a negative person nor am i someone who moans at anything the club does far from it.
Would just like to know why people think this is a brilliant idea so i can put my mind at rest
Like i said previously i hope its a massive success and our crowds double and no home fans are disgruntled by this but we will have to wait and see i fear the worst

Appreciate that mate, but I think you've overestimating how many of the away fans will be season ticket holders and also maybe underestimating how many neutrals it may attract. The maths will be done once we have something other than estimates to rely on and then assess it from there.

| I hope i am wrong Matt !!
The main point is it leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth that a non leigh support can come to Leigh and get in cheaper than a leigh supporter it just doesnt make sense.
plus the leigh fan is even more punished as they have to pay £2 extra if they decide to come on the day rather than pre paying.
were as the away fan is rewarding for having a season ticket with a club that has no benifit to leigh whatsoever!!
that is my main issue weather i think it will be a success or not is guess work and i can only go on my gut feeling!

As you say in terms of the numbers that may be attracted by the offer though, it's certainly not going an isolated number of Leigh fans paying extra for their tickets so I don't think it's anything to worry about too much, especially as hopefully the ofers will be reciprocated.

| In a post above showing the prospective figures you also have to remove the VAT payable on tickets and the 90k RFL monies this season, isn't that going straight to the taxman. Plus any other debts after the disaster that was last season.
Next season should see you all able to get in for less, provided of course we have paid off the majority of the debt.

You have got to be joking - if we are to get a 2000 crowd do you realise 75% of the crowd would be non Leigh season ticket holders??
Furthermore so what if it is reciprocated, whilst we have a good away following who will benefit from this in that our own season ticket holders and Touchdown members are still getting a raw deal and it will hardly inspire them to renew next season.
Huge lack of thought gone into this and can't believe this hasn't been pulled already.

| All those are massively important in getting through this season. I suppose they could instruct the team to lose more than the 4-6 losses that are budgeted for. That would help with ths debts......or would it. We would have to estimate what the crowds would drop to wouldn't we. This is far from an exact science, but with no relegation this year, they could have taken the obvious option of signing the cheapest team possible, they clearly haven't and are endeavouring to save the club in other ways for this season.

| AS a lottery and LIsa member it does concern me how much we pay to attend a match and how much a fan of another rl club can get in for esc the bring a kid free, we wont do this with the town kids, I know kids who would love to come but cant afford to.
Id rather the club spend it on trying to get the kids(our future Leigh fans) in .
of course this years prices are over inflated and we all know that it has to be this way, but to lose revenue off the teams we are playing against is crazy, elsewhere was it Hull FC that were charging away fans more to get in.
Saley Lisa has already given that much so far since Oct

I do realise that, exactly. Hence why out a crowd of for example 2,000 we'd have 500(?) Leigh season ticket holders, 200 (tops) away fans of which not all of them will be season ticket holders, and let's say we attract 100 neutral fans based on this offer. That leaves 1,200 paying full price and therefore still the majority of those attending. If it works, great, if it doesn't then I'm sure it will be assessed and pulled if necessary but I'm struggling to see why people aren't prepared to give this a chance? The club are constantly criticised for not trying new initiatives, but is it any bloody wonder when they introduce one which has been used at a number of different clubs in a number of different sports without such a crisis as there is on here?
Quote ="Dick Jones"I know kids who would love to come but cant afford to.'"
Not a dig Lynda but is that genuinely the case? It costs a fiver for a kid to get in at Leigh - plenty of kids spend more than that in the shop on the way to school!

| I think your missing the point mate
we are not incentivising our towns support but giving offers to people who will attend 1 maybe 2 games tops
how is this going to help long term? how is charging near as dam it the same price to attend a wigan/warrington/sthelens/widnes game going to make people come and watch championship rugby a Leigh?
its all about getting local people behind you by offering a great product at great value for money. We could charge 40 a match how many would come then?

You must realise that to motivate your potential home support is the only positive marketing you can do with regards to ticketing and pricing - i'm sorry but if you think we'll attract home fans to turn up in the knowledge they will be paying more to get in than visiting fans or season ticket holders at other clubs then you really need to brace yourself for the crowds we will attract as long as this ridiculous idea is allowed to run.

| Let me get this right...
In an attempt to get away fans into LSV we're letting them in for a tenner. Thats a tenner more than we got last season when they stayed at home.
The chances of that same away fan coming to LSV more than once in the season are between nil and not a lot. In return we might be able to get into their ground for a tenner. Result.
If we let a SDL ST holder in for not a lot, then its more than we got when he didn't come at all. If he comes more than 3 or 4 times under the scheme then I'd be suprised. But its income we didnt get beforehand.
Cant see why folk are getting all worked up about it.

To put on free coaches for away fans is a dreadful idea - you must realise that as you know what the cost of a coach is to the various grounds.
All this focus on fans other than our own is nothing short of insanity. Our main priority has to be to keep our existing season ticket & Touchdown members happy and then beyond that to engage with and attract as many Leythers as possible at both an individual and corporate level.
Of course this incentive will work at Fev who have every income stream to tap into at their ground, we have ticket income, end of.
Run with this idea and an average crowd of 1500 is a pipe dream, starting tomorrow.
