Well I thought it was because we lost at home to Batley in the play offs despite us having easily the best squad in that division. When I was at the match I could never understand why we didn,t go for a drop goal to save the game as we did have numerous chances.
I,m told that seasons squad was picked by Steve Grainey.

Never understood that one myself. TB was taken on with a two year contract, and had a two-year plan to get us back into SL. To ditch that plan half way through - with a trophy in the bag, and in the play-offs - seemed crazy!! Although there were strong rumours of a 'drinking culture' in that squad......being led by a high-profile squad member with more than his fair share of 'issues', that TB failed to get a handle on. IMHO we would have been better served bringing in a 'disciplinarian' coach for the 1st team, and moving Benson into a 'coaching co-ordinator' role (the job that Andy Gregory was supposed to have been doing!!), utilising his undoubted skills bringing on the younger players.

| nobody will ever know the full circumstances as a 'no disclosure' clause was put on the whole matter by both sides, I heard both 'sides' stories and with what I saw have my own view on it, the 'best' person to tell all would be Heath but he is too much the pro to reveal and IMO was the one who suffered the most out of the whole sorry affair, a true pro a budding great coach who is now (ATM) lost to the game and a great guy.

We add a couple of trouble makers who had left by the end of the season and to be fair on Tony did he sign actually sign them or had they signed before he took the job, I think the they,d already signed if I remember correctly.

I agree there Heath was committed to the club and under Darren Abram also did a lot5 of work behind the scenes that he didnt get the credit for.
