| Steve. What game plan tells you to pass the ball 5 yards behind the player it's supposed to go to or kick someone in the stomach?

| Leigh were poor today. Doesn't help when you're number 7 is invisible for 80minutes. Riddy carried the side today contributed to all the points.
I'd like to see Hurst, Rowe and Smith's meters compared to Duffy, Ostick and Bate. Battered up front.
Aspinwall is one of the most ineffective players I've seen in a long time, doesn't seem to get into the game. Works hard but no real quality in what he does.
Though Penky sparked a bit of life into the game, first time Leigh played with any pace.
Poor end to the season.

| Quote ="Starbug"While I agree on the tactical point, this was a play off game played for the most in terrible conditions, it was never going to be a ' classic ' , and not the free flowing type of match to attract the casual fan to attend in the future, the time to entertain is your regular season games
My criticism is do we stick to a gameplan too ridgidly sometimes, when in conditions like today opportunities open up that can and should be exploited?'"
Teams usually adapt to the conditions and fans adjust their expectations as to what sort of game they will witness. Irrespective of conditions they want to see commitment, endeavour, tactics ,innovation and ideas. What they don't want is to be bored to death, when the fans know what is coming next it stands to reason the the opposition will know as well.

| We need a quality scrum half, people have a go at riddy, well not me, you go to work tonorriw and do your job and the persons next to you. That is what he,s been doing for ages, because brierley just aint at the races, and aint a number 7. I shall pose a question, do you think we have re-signed too many of the current squad?

| Unless we sign Ellis or the likes of our best halve back combination would be Riddy & Govin they would compliment each other brilliantly IMO

| One thing ive learned after watching Leigh over 50 yrs they will let you down more times than they will excite you big blow today was Hopkins and Gardner injured both lads have a bit of class and are powerful and in my opinion would have made a difference on the outcome of todays game Batley deserved their win had more power up front and a bit off class at halfback Leigh lost that match because of poor disipline in the first half and a inability to play the ball quickly Riddy seemed to try his best to move them around but most of the time they took the ball flat and Batley smashed em.Next season hopefully we can bring in a bit of pace out wide and a bit more power up front at times today it looked like men v boys in the forward battle All in All aint been a bad season just shows tho that we aint that far off Thanks Lads for the effort this season and that great final win

Well we will see.
I thought Brierley took a knock to his leg in the first half and consequently wasn't his usual self.
We will see in about 3 months wether we have retained players we shouldn't.
For all the criticism we scored 3 tries to their one and truth to tell our discipline cost us.
Would we have won next week anyways ? Well who knows but I don't think Batley will (and no Batley fans that's just how I see it).
From a personal point of view now we are finished for this season I think I know who will win the Grand Final.
Mentioned to a few mates today with the money I save next week I will get a new pair of shoes.
Like the tune over the tannoy at the end Always look on the bright side.

Also thought John Davies was immense, put in a great clever shift, given the conditions!

Im not sure our results point to you giving them a better game, we could say the league table points the other way, we both know RL does not work like that.
Dont worry about Sheffield I wont be counting my chickens and realize how tough a game it will be. Its 2 apiece in the games against them this year so its almost the decider. They have a ton of injuries though and we have a great chance, at home to a broken team, as a Fax fan though I know nothing is a given.

IMO very harsh on Ridyard. He's been far and away our most creative player this season. For me, the problem arises when he's having to do it all - even Yorkshire players ( ) can predict that the ball will go to him every time.

| Next season put Govin in't halves & Brierley to full back & problem solved. I really hope Rowley see it that way too as I honestly believe that would be our best combination.

| I reckon Ryan was playing on 1 and a half legs today ,and Riddy like has been had to do it all and it was just too much yesterday . We where in try scoring positions a couple of times and should have scored but the passes went awry ,at one point he stood with the ball what seemed liked 5 seconds before he passed it .Batley's number 7 kicked Leigh to death and that for me won them the game . Another big mistake was McNally letting the ball go dead when the ref signalled that the ball had been touch ,we were all shouting for him to pick it up. To score 3 tries to 1 and loose is hard to take .

| Right at the end of the 1st half Brierley was smashed by a Batley player when making a kick. He looked hurt & slowly got up & moved to the wing out of the road & he looked like he played the rest of the game with a injury after that.

You are [i"That woman who sits near us in the West stand - spends 75 minutes of every game slagging off everything Riddy ever does - then, win lose or draw, does the W*gan walk with five minutes to go"[/i.....and I claim my £5!!!
Top try assists (again).....yet he does nothing!!!
Anyone who has watched us all season can see that Ryan hasn't been fit since he came back from his serious injury.....he's a good yard slower than he was at the start of the season, yet he's still toppped the try scoring chart - I pray that he hasn't done lasting damage playing on, and that the op he's now due to have will sort things out. 'Kes' is one of those rare breed of players who immediately have you on the edge of your seat whenever they get the ball - and the sort of 'X factor' player that will get the crowds flocking in the coming seasons!!
Some folk wouldn't know which way they were going in a lift if they had two guesses!!

| We should try brierley or pownall at fullback next year. I don't see what McNally offers us apart from moaning at the ref. His first job is to be a solid last line of defence, yet he consistently drops bombs.

| When oposition teams including yesterdays have made a clean break with only McNally left to defend & it's 2v1 Gregg's a great reader & often makes the attacking player play into his hands. Yes he has dropped some bombs but overall he's a very good FB. With our current squad for me Brierley to FB with Govin in't halves & play McNally on't right wing where Maden usually plays.

| I think McNally is fine at fullback.
The bombs yesterday was put up by a very good player who can really kick a ball , the way they spun and swirled left McNally with no chance.
In terms of Govin I do think he's now looking towards the latter stages of his career and is getting no younger - Leigh needs some youth and whilst Govin without doubt offers something if he keeps himself clean and focussed its probably a bit unfair to expect too much of a guy who has been missing match fitness for a very long time (even before his ban he seemed to be injured a lot).
If Ryan was unfit yesterday then it was a gamble that backfired for Rowley as the opposition seemingly knew one strong hit would render him pretty much a passenger.
I'm sure a good pre season and a chance to get all the knocks and niggles put to one side for once and for all will see Brierly become a stand out player in this division.
Riddy had a poor game yesterday by his own standards but lets not forget the entire team more or less underperformed and Riddy was easily targeted once Brierly was out the game - maybe our pack of cards was limited and in Kear Batley had a coach who is exceptional tactically and brilliant at reading a game.
Penky gives us options and can change the direction of the game but his late appearance may mean the coach has other preferred options or maybe doesn't think he's got the engine to play large chunks of the game, it could of course be he was also carrying knocks !
In terms of moving Pownall I'd leave him as he is as he's developing into a decent winger who comes inside to help out to take the ball in when the forwards need a breather - for me once he starts to bulk a bit more (but not too much - a proper RL winger should be in a team for speed in my opinion) I think he'll be a 'name' in our team that others mention.
Do we need cover in the backs ?
As yesterday clearly showed our Plan B is easily sussed out or flawed when the better coached / bigger teams arrive and at times this season we've been very predictable (although at times we have shown really good flair, a bit Jekyl and Hyde) so for me it would be a priority.
I haven't seen anything of our youth team to see if any are showing signs of coming through the ranks to warrant a run in Pre season or the occasional bench spot next year (or indeed if they actually belong to us or Wigan - presume next season all the players in the teams representing Leigh will have Leigh as the parent club and not another club) I'm also certain though that every other club is looking for a quality back so we're hardly on our own there !

| We have Pownall,Gardner,Litter & Gardner so why don't we need cover in a season where we can earn half a million for finishing in the top 2? Govin is 28 so hardly passed it if he carries on with where he left off he'll play a big part our 2014 season IMHO.

I'm agreeing we need cover - in fact its something I'd prefer us to look at ! !
In terms of Govin I think he's still a bit of a gamble and whilst its great if it comes off I'd rather us have a bit more security as its a long time since he's really done anything and like I said I think the expectations need keeping in check as to what he may or not be able to do after such a long time away from playing RL at Championship level

| Well I always thought Gov was a good player and if at 28 years old he can't get match fit I would be astonished.
You should see how I move 1 minute before it's my round.
