I think you are reading far too much into it.

Fact is Gregg McNally was always supposed to be 1st choice fullback as he has been for the last few years.

He badly hurt his knee in the friendlies and it looked like it could have been a season ending injury so we went out and signed Smith as a replacement.

Now after 7 months out McNally has come back and is currently favoured over Smith.

Personally I prefer McNally (our best player last season IMO) at fullback to Smith but would possibly put Smith in at centre. Others prefer him at fullback over Gregg.

Don't think there is any secret reason he isn't playing other than he simply wasn't picked this week. Maybe next week he will play, I certainly expect Lee to play a big role in these 8's.

Heavy weight contest for me ,not bantamweight.Not a match for agility, just pure power required.If Smith wasn't available fair enough,but if he was then its a bad call.Defense will be the key tomorrow, not attack.

No excuses this season, same cap, played less matches, and imo have a better/stronger squad. You want to play with the big boys, you have to beat the big boys.

McNally was looking like being back to somewhere near his best, too.

To be honest I thought McNally looked less than 100% under a highball/pressure kick through at times, but that is understandable after such a bad injury and long layoff.
That said, that little kick out wide to create the try on the left at a vital time in the game showed exactly why Niel Jukes wants him out there.

Shaky start in defence but contributed to the attack at the right time.

Apart from a shaky effort under a bomb McNally was excellent.

I know you are Lee Smiths number 1 fan but McNally was massive in attack today and added a lot to our performance.

Playing Gregg was 100% justified by his performance this afternoon.

I'm not sold on Tickle yet but poor is an over exaggeration in my opinion. I will make a note to watch him in the LCTV coverage as I feel he may get through more work than some of us realize (myself included).
McNally poor, no way. Not yet 100% but getting closer and will just keep getting better over the next couple of games. I wasn't sure he was the right choice to start last week or this but he stood up really well today against a full strength Salford team who really shouldn't be in these middle 8s, and the chip kick to the left wing to set up the try was a game breaker. Keeps his place for me going forward.

I am a big fan of Smith too.

He has been excellent for us all season and I can't knock him at all.

Just feel your assessment of McNally was harsh today.

We have 2 excellent options at fullback and it must keep Jukesy up at night having to pick between them.

this is just as i saw it missing kick offs and tackles ok he got 2 bombs and got an easy try and a kick for a try this is just my opinion like other people comment on here
