Cant speak for the others but at Fax I know lots of people who used to be regulars who no longer go because the rugby we have been playing is pretty boring.

I don't know about other teams, I am only interested in what Leigh are doing, and how they are going to get enough bums on seats, and way I see it that isn't going to happen until they have a winning coach and team. In other words a good product which customers want buy.

As greg Florimos Boots says, the reason the numbers are down this year is becuase of the Boring one man rugby that has been played this season, I'm a Season ticket holder and i didnt attend 2 games this year as i chose to go fishing with my little lad instead, That would never have happened in previous seasons. The entertainment dished up has been Dire ground out wins. Nothing i can see has changed we have just hit a bit of form, Even if we go on to win it this year, i will still say great overall result but how we got there was poor to watch. I am not alone, many others have written this year off already.

I'm intrigued by your post! Just what constitutes a winning coach in your opinion? PR was assisstant to IM when we won the NRC in 2011,the following season he belatedly stepped into the Coaching role after a farcical overseas appointment process! He was then voted Championship Coach of the year! This season, when once again, we have been in finacial turmoil he has coached the NRC winners after deafeating top sides, Fev,Batley and Champions Sheffield in the final! Now, I dont agree with a lot of PRs decisions but, I would probably dispute any other coaches decisions also!! Perhaps you could tell us just which 'winning' coach you would like at Leigh!

I think the spectacle has been poor at all levels of RL this year, SL on sky has been dire. Rule changes and interpretations have reduced space and slowed the ruck down with fewer teams willing to throw the ball about in close games relying on the 5 drives and a kick chase to win the'arm wrestle'
Add that to a recession that has hit the manual worker the hardest and if you aren't enjoying it you vote with your feet
Take the weekend game the ref let the teams get into each others faces when he could have policed the 10m and created space in poor conditions
Our poll the other year said entertain and give 100%, I don't think the 100% is in question but I feel we have rarely entertained, and the way we used penky in the play offs beggars belief

Without a doubt. Fax fans have been moaning all season that our play is dour and at times I have agreed but Im never stopping watching because of it. I think maybe the drop has come because of expanding this league, no disrespect to the teams that were promoted, but Im not really sure the fans are that much in to the games vs say Worky or York with people picking and choosing their games which has probably lead to a drop as well.

Ok besides the NRC what has PR achieved, all I get is the same give him time, what a great coach he is, look at what he as done with little money ect ect,, when are these excuses going to end.
I would welcome any coach who learns by their mistakes and can take Leigh forward to another level, PR is an average/mediocre coach who has found his level in this league, and that is always what he will be a championship coach, you carry on in this Rowley dreamland and see where it takes us.
Nobody will convince me that PR is going to take us to where we want to be.
I want the best for my team, and I firmly believe PR isn't the person to do.

Ok then but who do you suggest ? Who is available that you would like to be head coach at Leigh ? If we had finished near the bottom and hadn't won the NRC I could understand where you are coming from .Next season we will have a bigger squad so players will have to play well for their position so lets see how next season pans out 1st before asking for his head.

I cant name a coach, but a coach who listens, learns from their mistakes.

You can only coach the players you have .When we where using a couple of the Wigan duals we played better RL last month since we played Halifax at home using Thornley from Wigan as well has Spencer we have,nt used the dual system apart from Spenny who's played all season our performances have suffered due to key players playing with injuries ie Gardner , Kes Hoppy ect we also lost the services of Parker Paul has had to bring in young players like Bate Duffy Ect ect in the forwards blimey take key players out of any squad at any level of RL and the team will struggle if Hoppy and Gardner had played Sunday Leigh would have won that I'm sure off.. Paul Rowley is a very good coach he can only coach the players he has due to the financial restraints at the club Get behind the Centurions Steve and stop putting a fellow Leyther down or else I will hav a word with a few of my buddies in hillbilly land and get them to put ya in a Whicker man on Nov 5 th LOL

The opening sentence of your previous post says it all "Ok besides the NRC what has PR achieved....". You don't like PR and if he offered you the Challenge Cup on a plate you'd still say you didn't rate him.

Ian you know I am a Leyther through and through, we have watched many a game together home and away, I wouldn't personally criticise anybody who as anything to do with Leigh, but this is an exception.

What you call excuses I call reasons. That is because I believe PR is the man for the job and you do not.
Each to their own opinions.
But your last post suggests to me that you have something personal against Paul Rowley.

Paul Rowley is our coach next year.

It will be an important year as well so its in all of our interests to get behind him and make it a very successful one for Leigh RLFC.

I fully appreciate its a message board and everyone is entitled to an opinion but I think PR and the team should be judged in 12 months time.

As a Board we are backing Paul to the hilt and believe in our man and will give him the resources required to build on this seasons efforts.

Over his two years in-charge he has had many hurdles to get over and built a team in unstable times for the club and now gets a full off season with all his key players resigned some major signings he identified already secured with others to come and with additions made to strengthen his back room team thanks to fact the BOD are supporting him.

Highly rated young British coaches are what we all want, we've got one so lets get behind him.

If we finish in a worse position next year with the set up we now have. Then surely that's when people can judge him .
We've had a unsettled year where he's had to deal with players who haven t been paid at times. Also they weren't getting their bonuses as well at one point and he has the backing and respect of his board and players, so we fans should get behind the team . All this dishing of players and coaches is daft!

Get over Sunday (as disappointing as it was and it really was , we was all gutted fAns players coaching staff and board members too )and back the/your team !

Paul has had the greatest apprenticeship this club has ever afforded to one of it's coaches. Certainly during my life time. I think I am right in saying He has been part of the coaching set up here at Leigh since the end of 2006, close on 8 years .

It's now time for the club to begin to reap the rewards of that long term investment in him and as I say, 2014 is a big year for everyone involved.

I have nothing against PR personally he is a decent person, but my point is that I want the best for Leigh, and for Leigh to survive financially which means more people through the gates, but only people will start coming back when we have a winning team, action speaks louder than words, you can bump him up as much as you like words mean nothing, words wont bring supporters back.
I have seen nothing to convince me that PR is the right person for the job, but I am in the minority and my opinion is just landing on deaf ears.
Lets see what 2014 brings, I do hope I am wrong, but I don't think I will be.
