| Quote ="Honest Joe"The curtain raiser has to be done as a serious junior game not just a glorified training session for tick and pass. I've seen lots of kids curtain raisers over the years and not just at Leigh. They're always treated as something to get out of way as quick as possible before the "real" game starts. These players are the future of our club and we should treat them as special as soon as possible. I played on Hilton Park when I was a kid, and 40 odd years later I can remember every minute. It's a real big deal for kids to play on a professional ground and we should treat them properly. The kids, their parents and their grandparents will be looking forward to the big day for ages. Lets make sure it's a great day for them to remember, rather than giving them the impression this is just filler..'"
what you could do is have the college carnigie finals at LSV, when i was at college there were 5 different finals at Bradford. Everybody stayed after their games to watch Leigh&pie college v St helens college.
that will attract a few hundred people alone. Also what game would you do it before? a big one........

Thanks Fred, how hard would it be to set up games? and play at LSV
Heather used to play TAG rugby so she'll have a few contacts to set up that kind of game. I remember giving my details over to them and they used to text me which venue they were training at!

| At the main stadium? I would think virtually impossible TBH with the money the LSV would want, as for the 'outlying ones' I wouldn't have a clue but would think again some financial cost would be involved to the LSV.

| Crowds can be manipulated to be whatever we need, revenue is king.
We need to increase revenue and control costs - simples.
The diehards are where the revenue will come from, be they fans stood on the terrace or fans in exec boxes.
The next stage is by selling the club properly to increase the customer base, we must be realistic here - we have a product that most aren't interested in until it gets to SL, FACT. Hudds went up on sub 2000 gates in a season with guaranteed P&R - they attract many more now, so 2500-3000 is bloody good imho, more would be fantastic but the core income will come from Diehards.
At present we have a major cashflow issue with AT's exit, that we have so far failed to fill. We dont have debt as such, but every day without AT changes that, we will need more cash to meet basic expenditure. That cash must come from current fans or a major investor who at present isn't about.
If we have 1000 dads who are not looking forward to socks and undies this weekend what a great time to launch a fighting fund for those £20's.

I am not about manipulating attendances , what is the point ? , all you are doing is kidding yourself Ifs that's what you attempt to do , I assume the " we need " bit is a reference to getting a licence ?
Yes we do need to increase revenue , to do that you need revenue streams , unfortunatly we only really have one

| Didn't we have a schools initiative at the start of the season when we had the Sky live games on? What has been the feedback from the schools and children that attended? As I recall, when interviewed on the PA system, some of the children didn't know any of the player's names! Are they now weekly supporters and look for their idles whenever they're out shopping around town with their familly or friends?

Yes The revenue will have to come from the diehards now , but that won't last and don't go quoting Huddersfield to me , they are still having million a year tipped in 9 years after getting promoted
This thread isn't about the here and now , we all know the situation after today's message from Trevor , this tread is about the long term

| Quote ="Leeeigh Leeeigh"2006 NRC Cup Final when we absolutely battered the biggest club in the world - unexpected was not the word because the fans didn't back us that day in numbers. '"
Was a poor turn out by us that day, admittedly not as bad as many thought in advance (or as bad as SKY made out, frequent shots of Leigh fans who where then 'shown' as Hull KR fans for having similar colours ).
Made the victory so much sweeter though
Leigh need to work on the crowds and the ticket initiatives though, brought a friend and his son on Sunday, £24.00 for a Adult and Child is way too expensive for a first timer IMO.
Hopefully something will be done about a family stand before next season, and hopefully the club will keep looking at getting our support increasing, plenty of good well thought out ideas at the various football clubs that Leigh can copy, must be some at other RL clubs as well.
Once Trevor has settled and got to grips with the financial shortages I'm sure he'll put raising crowds and the clubs profile as his number 1 priority.

Frequent attendees won't pay that, they will have bought a Child ST, I learn't the hard way last year with that.
I'm saying that child accompanied by adults should be either free or a £1.00 on the ticket price, the club/LSV will always make money on it elsewhere(on sunday it was a cap, a programme, a hot dog , 2 drinks and some crisp), getting them here in the first place is the hard part so lets make it easier.

Cracking idea that surely has to be worth a go this season, what is to be lost by doing it ? ?
On a smaller scale Aberdeen FC do this amongst other things to entice groups in
www.afc.co.uk/page/DonsDayOut/0,,10284,00.html
At Bury FC we had a 'club of the day' in which a Junior sports club was invited down, the children (of all the clubs age groups) packed the family stand and then the teams did a parade of the ground at half time with Robbie the Bobby (the mascot) to applause from the support, not sure about how this worked from a financial return (suspect it was largely free) but it raised awareness of the club and the money taken on Matchday would have rockerted (admittedly Leigh wouldn't gain as much this way - although it was a brilliant way of getting 5 - 16 year olds in the ground), not all clubs where local as we had some over from Ireland.

I'd suggest the club try it out for one remaining match this season , possibly the York home game if the kids are back at school by then , but you need to go the whole hog if it is ever going to work , I'd even put the free transport on for the away fans , and make sure they are all grouped together either in the south stand or the south side of the west stand , I'd also invite the whole of ' Glows ' street down as well , put them all together in one block of the north side of the west stand so he can wave to them at half time
We have to make every match at the LSV an ' event ' if we are ever to get anywhere near a break even in it , these ideas are long term plans with the intention of ' growing ' life long Leigh fans , not just people who will turn up when we play well and disappear at the 1 st bad result
The ultimate aim is to fill the stadium , every time that doesn't happen means there is still work to do
