| Quote ="Ian Roberts Closet"After watching you yesterday I think you willdo better than I thought! Blythe looks bigger and stronger and your pack is going to be better. Ellis didnt impress but if you can keep your best 13 on the pitch you should be up there! Was mentioned after the game that you have strengthened up physically which was important. However if it doesnt click I dont think Millward as many excuses as everything seems set for a good season. May even back you for Choo Choo cup again!!'"
its a weird feeling walking off a ground after a thumping and still feeling confident about the coming season.you just have to remind yourself of the gulf in class of the top four in SL and the rest of us mere mortals.
Ellis was good against salford but i think the pace of warrington caught him out yesterday, hopefully he will be a better player for the experiance.
i'm not sure about the DC players tbh.when you get injuries and the DC's get called back it leaves the squad looking very thin.fortunately we've only got two this season.
i think realistically an improvement on last season and more consistancy will be a success because barra, fax and fev look the strongest.

| We finished third last season. Fax and Fev have lost players this season.
We have had two friendlies. Have our lads looked good or bad ? Which is the better squad this seasons or.last ?
I know I have not seen another Championship side this season but I am optimistic about the coming season.
Oh btw I will be at the Willows Feb 4 to watch Fax play Swinton. Report of their prospects to follow after I have watched the game.

| 1- Halifax
2 - Widnes
3 - Batley
4 - Featherstone
5 - Barrow
6 - Leigh
7 - Dewsbury
8 - Sheffield
9 - Toulouse
10 -York
11 - Hunslet
start of the season is key. If we win 5 of the first 6, I fancy us to be top 2.
With it being Leigh though, I fear we may be lingering near the bottom after 6 matches. Hope I am wrong !

| Undefeated in regular season, win NRC and win GF. We are the best by a country mile and should be asked to join SL.

| I said you'd finish 5th last year and you finished 3rd so better than I thought.
Somewhere between 2nd and 4th imo this year with 4th the most likely depending on how Widnes or Barrow go.
As a question, if you were to win the NRC this year do you qualify for SL applications in the next round of franchises?

2 go down [ if any this year because they are considering messing about with it all AGAIN '" Fev have only lost Briggsy. An influencial player I'll give you that, but will be replaced for the league season! In the mean time Kainy to 6 and James Davy on dual reg short term to cover hooker.
A balanced looking side at Fev and similar to last year, no-one tipping our lot for the top of the tree!! I'll run with that - again!!
The team avoiding the greatest injuries will be the one's there about! A short and tight league programme!

| Having watched our 1st 2 friendlies our squad looks a lot better than last year and bring in,Blythe and Armstrong it will only get better. The big difference last year when we played Warrington,it was like men against boys, size wise. This year there wasnt a massive differance in the size of the teams,i thought our pack looks better than last year,it was a pity Nash had to go off early,he was having a good game. Were we finish will depend on how our halves perform.Think we will finish 3rd behind Fev and Halifax and hpoefully go one better in NRC and the play offs.

For me, your season may well depend on your halves - the difference between a good team and an outstanding one.
For us, much will depend on our start - first six games are Fev (twice); Barrow (twice); Halifax, and Widnes. Methinks the "fixture planners" at Red Hall are having a laugh!

We have to play them sometime Alan may as well get them out the way, then if we are not badly placed in the table after them games all will be well, i hope.

| Really interesting views from Leigh fans....i think anyone underestimating Batley this season will end up with egg on their face. I saw them last season a few times, and seen them twice in pre-season. They smashed Halifax and the score flattered Fax as they defended heroically for most of the game. They held an almost full strength castleford team last weekend and they will offer a different threat than they did last year.
The difference is that they have added some real size to the forwards and aggression, Mennell is back alongside Handforth and Moore, the 2 best Giants dual reg players in Hodgson and Johnson, as well as Flanagan back after his ban. They will finish in the top 4 for certain. Featherstone will be up there, halifax not as strong, Barrow ?? can schofield use his outdated style of play to have Barrow in the mix ?? Tolousse have lost most of their best players ?? Sheffield will be the usual difficult side to beat, and Hunslet and York will be out of their depth. Dewsbury hot and cold but wont bother the top 6.
Featherstone
Halifax
Batley
Widnes
Sheffield

Hence the reason I haven't tried to predict anything , once again on any given day any team will be able to beat anybody , injuries to ' key ' players will decide who finishes where , good innit
