Sunday was the first time he hadn't had his leg strapped up playing which tells me he hasn't been fully fit but he had a major brain fart on Sunday which nearly cost us the game he's been steady for us this season but nowt special.

He will be remembered for the Widnes away game though, played on one leg and put it a great performance could hardly walk at the end of the game. Lets hope he can finish the season strongly, starting against his former side Barrow on Saturday.

Huge disapointment he came with big raps but to be honest as looked like a very average player , looks slow unfit not my idea of a good forward

Me i think it was money down the drain !!!

tries his best, but not very good at all.

He is a major let down! Cant remember him making break/breaking a tackle ad even without the knee bandaged up he looks really unfit. There are far better 2nd row/loose forwards.

I'm told Millward has said that if he wants a contract for next season he needs to drop weight and get fitter because he does have the tools to do the job.

We shall see what happens when Millward returns. I'm sure players will want to play for us next season with him returning.

He does seem to try his best agreed but he just doesnt seem match fit.Hasnt really impressed me this season after all the hype of CH1 player of the year.
Maybe he will be better next year

You feel there is something there but it just isn't coming out

Having said that he isn't a prop , yet seems to be doing the work of a prop , ie trying too hard

I have to say when we signed him I actually thought it was because he was going to a club with better prospects but we all know which is the better team this season.

It does make me think in retrospect however if he was as good as reported why did they let him go especially in view of the amount of money they have spent this season on their squad.

The question of his fitness has been asked of our present coach at LISA meetings. Having said that apart from that daft offload on Sunday I thought that was his best performance for our club.

IVE SAID IT for a while now TAXI for Armistead,he hasnt made a break all season,and scored one try ,all season ,in thefriendly against Oldham ,FOR ME A WASTE OF CASH ,AND IVE BEEN TOLD HES ONE IF NOT THE highest paid player .

yes Hobbo may have a temper ,he has scored 3 tries this season, more than Armo,Jimmy T, and Aaron Smith ,put together ,they have scored 1 between then.

ive got to say armitstead has been injured now since the fev games which has been said and hes not recovered fully considering this he has had a good season i am only a 14 year old lad but ive only missed 2 leigh games all season i even went to tolouse and the games ive seen armitstead has played at a decent standard

Apart from the Toul trip... all and young minimon ive been goin home n away since 1963 and when i say Armi is average thats being nice !!!

of course its not all his fault, but the title of thisd thread is armo, hence we're talking about him and how he's played. and i've been to every first team game this season mate.

Unfortunately Dave is a 'grunt type' second rower as is JT and we have had no strike second rower since AJ and Rudd were injured, and its that what we are crying out for, someone who will run at centres like 'Sid' Baldwin used to do.

NO, BUT WHEN HE 'RUNS' at players, at least 'sometimes' he pushes them back a few yards. Armo's strength is his enthusiasm, and he can offload in a tackle.

I certainly dont think hes been fully fit all season and if he has then thats a worry. He gives his all but maybe the step up from 3rd tier rugby is just outlining the level at which he can excel and is most comfortable. Having said that I have appreciated the fact that he has held his hand up and sweated blood for the pride of the jersey and for that reason he has not let anyone down including himself.

uhmmm let me think......who was it who said at the beginning of the season that he wasn`t any good?if he was that good then why are barrow letting him leave????? and may i add,got slated for it......at the end of the day all he was was a backpacker who came over for a holiday a few years ago and the way he`s played this season you`d think he was still on holiday.
the problem this season is we haven`t had a true leader.one who can pull the players together when things are going crap.one who leads from the front.the likes of Donlan or Watson etc are ok when the team are playing well but lets be honest,thats not much this year.AJ would be a good leader for us next year IMO.

Armitstead is being made to look so bad because the complete and utter lack of second phase in attack! If your strength is turning and offloading in a tackle, as his is, you want somebody wedged right up your booty on either side of you bursting onto your offloads hence catching the un-set defence flat footed. I've lost count of the number of offloads that have been recieved from armitstead whilst stood still, and it makes armitstead look like he's throwing nothing balls out. But, agreed, he has been unfit and sometimes looks too eager to find the floor although i feel that the best asset of his game is being totally negated by leighs poor push on attack.
