| Its all very worrying,we seem to lurching from one daft idea to another.
First was forget getting people in with season tickets which every club in every sport does by offering deals.
Next was move from sundays even though everyone voted for it.
And the best of all make it cheaper for every tom dick and harriot to get in unless you actually support and watch leigh,it beggers belief!!!!!!
Someone posted they know of 12 who have not taken up season tickets because of the lack of a deal and the move to fridays, out of our mob 7 have not taken up a season ticket, plus I know of another 4 at work and 6 from the local pub,now these people aren't part time fans but home and away fans, thats the type of people the club are driving away with dafter and dafter offers and days of playing.
Perfect example, having a pint friday afternoon in comes a few mates who go to matches first words out of there mouths"you will never guess what them ***** have done now,its only cheaper now if your a pie fan to watch leigh than any of us going, they can get ****** if they think I'm paying more than a pie!"
And that is the can of worms they have opened with local fans
Trev if you read this forum get your act together and lets bring back the fans who are drifting farther and farther away.
Start now by offering a season ticket(adult) with a reduced rate for the remaining games if bought before easter also include a child one free with it, with every adult one bought and move back to bloooooody sundays.

Even 'Fetch BOB' may be argued not to have worked though - given the Barrow attendance, and even more worryingly the Hunslet one. Both these games were before the season ticket initiative.
As for whether John supported the s/t deal, I don't know - you'll have to ask him.

Maybe but at least "Bob" is a step in the right direction.
If he isn't involved in the other initiative then why?? Who is making the decisions?

| What can we do to help out as loyal fans? That's the question.
Pulling in different directions does not help.
I am not a fan of this latest initiative although there should be something league wide to encourage more home fans to go away from home.

Couldn't agree more - the problem is the club is seemingly wanting us to bring Bob one minute and then charge him more than season ticket holders at any other club. Can anybody explain how to send more of a mixed message than this??

Personally, I agree that 'BOB' is a step in the right direction.
I didn't say that the director in question WASN'T involved in the s/t initiative, I actually said I DIDN'T KNOW whether he was. However, I'm sure he would tell you, if you asked him.

Thanks for your honesty & attempt to answer.
Let us all hope whoever is the "brains" behind this insane plan is big enough to hold their hand up & pull it - re-focus on Leythers and come up with a plan to get the floating fans their against York instead of watching the Wire v Saints game on Sky.
I fear below 1500 for us that night.

Decisions should be made by those tasked with making them as and when they add value.
=#BF0000:2zoao58zDo you see the Fans' Forums as a useful way of communicating with the fans?
Not in their current format. You see the same people - communicate via local media.
We nearly went tits up last year so I would like them to focus on our survival eg Latest P&L against budgets, action plan to recover any shortfalls, club news and initiatives AOB related to making the club self sufficient by improving income. Every 3 months is sufficient.

It wasn't suggested to be the junior centurions stand, the suggestion was for the north end of the east stand to be used as a family stand for certain matches following on from work done in the schools by the Leigh Youth and Community Trust , and Alan, you knew that
As for the assertion that free tickets ' always ' end up in the hands of regular fans, yes they do, if we continue with the ' lazy ' management style we have come accustomed to at Leigh Centurions, no disrespect here , but the initiatives we are currently witnessing do not impeed upon the matchday routines of the people who have come up with them
Support the community dept properly and I will personally get 4/500 families into the stadium with a guarantee that 99 % of the tickets given out dont get into the hands of people who are not entitled to have them
Ditto the away travel idea ( rather than blanket cheap tickets to all and sundry ) , bite the bullet and I will personally bring 4/500 away fans from the nearest other Championship clubs, keighley,Dewsbury,Batley,Fax and Fev, possibly more with the last 2
These two ideas, working together will give us 3/4 games with attendances closer to 4,000 than 3,000 , and will result in more Leigh fas in the future

| Can you explain how this works? If they're a community group what do the club need to sign for? And if those numbers can be brought in by Starbug, why can't he just bring them in?
I'm not being facetious, it's a genuine question because I don't understand what it's all about.

Same here, not too fussed on the figures but what would your ideas be and how would you persuade/drag them in?
I think we should look at targeting the 5-16 year olds. Its about getting them in the LSV and making them fans.
They have to 1st of all enjoy the day, so would you have a fun day kind of thing? Because the free kids that rfl ran last year was quite a good incentive

It all comes down to the providing of free adult tickets, to get the kids into the stadium the community dept needs to have them available if needed, all clubs , including ours dont like giving them out
It really comes down to a leap of faith by the club, they are scared that they will be abused and used by existing fans, I however believe that with a bit of common sense you could reduce the misuse of tickets to close to zero
So why the management seem reluctant to even try is a complete mystery to me

Ste, reread the post that was highlighted on the Sheffield idea yesterday the one on the VT, essentially they will look at who took up the deal, and target those groups next time
Now this information is happily shared between clubs marketing and community depts , so instead of clubs directors guessing at these things , all they have to do is ask, ask the experts what works and what doesn't
No disrespect but if you need a solicitor, you need them for a reason, it isn't an impulse decision, you dont think out of the blue " the weathers nice today and theres nothing on the telly I'll ring a solicitor," ditto cardboard boxes , you either need them for a reason or you dont, can you see where I'm going here? , maybe a policeman? , I doubt many people have ever thought, I've not spoken to the police for a while, I'll nip down the station
So decide what you want, tell the experts what you want, ask them what they need from you to achieve what you want, give it to them and let them get on with their job
It really is that simple

Would you target a specific game?

Ideally ste, we'd like to get that sort of info. on everybody who comes to watch, from a communications perspective. We've already got it on S/T holders and Touchdown members, (I hope!) and would probably wish to 'attack' supporters as they queue for tickets at one of our 'bigger' games. (in adition to any where an initiative such as Starbug's would be attempted)

I don't pretend to know what the answer is. It's early days yet, but the signs are not good, especially as we have not got the visit of Widnes to boost our gates. (and the team's confidence!) Times are hard but, this week, the 'trade press' announced the Sheffield initiative and Featherstone having sold 1,000 season tickets - so some initiatives seem to work.
