| Leigh were poor in that second half, the loss of Drinkwater multiplied the problem (MOST TEAMS LOSING THEIR SCRUM HALF WOULD HAVE PROBLEMS), the ref was just the icing on the cake.
keep the heads up lads its early days and Wakey with the exception of Johnson weren't any better than Leigh, I know someone's going to write, read the result, I would just respond with my "Icing on the cake" statement.

| I'm sorry but drinkwater was poor tonight when he was on the field, his attempt to tackle for one of their trys was very poor for superleague standard and apart for a couple of kicks into touch didn't do anything

Do you actually watch the game ??
He dictates the plays and we are rudderless without him, as was proven
He's not a world beater by any means but to say he was poor last night is somewhat unfair

| Quote ="oggy123"Not blinkers at all mate... We wasn't at the pace tonight but wasn't beaten by a better team... They got roll on last 10 and first 15 of 2nd half on back of our slow line speed and sloppiness... We had 3 big calls that we're all ruled wrongly which directly influenced 3 tries, Hampshire pass wasn't forward... Hampshires "knock on" and bishop being short which he was but "momentum" took him over but didn't apply too hampshires pass? Losing drinkwater was a blow we lost our way around the park! We need Patterson Weston back next week... Tickle needs a rest for a game he's been doing big minutes and it showed... Tough place too go is wakey and we will go again just annoying when so many big calls influence the game so much!'"
Like I say - blinkers off
Hampshire passed the ball on the 20 meter line - it was caught a yard and a half in front of that
Knock on I'll give you - but it's the norm for the ref to give them, more likely to question how the hell he dropped it in the 1st place, poor kick and under no pressure - the guy terrifies me every time a kick come to him
Bishop looked a try all day long at full speed, hence why the ref gave it - looks 50/50 to me but couldn't really be overruled
Big game against Widnes now

| The coach seems to think the centre position is more important than full back. Mistakes at centre can be rectified, whereas at full back can be fatal. Hamoshire is not a full back. Please swap him back permanently with Brown.

| Never in my 35 odd years of watching the game was the ref ever the quantifiable reason for my team or any other losing a game.
Blaming the ref for a loss is really the lowest denomination a fan can stoop to.

| I’m not going to bother reading this thread as Ref bashing isn’t my favourite topic, and despite any misgivings we all may have about the Ref, we showed enough early on to win this game and switched off, we just didn’t punish them with the ruthless defence like we have been doing, they made easy yards. We lost Drinky and had no back up plan.
Well done to Wakey hopefully we’ll continue to learn from the experience.

| There was only one blatant error, Hampshire lost the ball backwards. Hampshire's pass was forward, Acton stepping to the left was marginal and Hock was rightly penalised for a high shot. The VR decision was Thaler's but the ref seemed a bit harsher with Leigh at the ruck.
Was it the ref's fault we lost? No but he had an influence. The defeat was down to Leigh's clueless performance in the second half, they had no Plan B.

| One of hocks high shot penalties was correct one wasn't. Hampshires wasn't a knock on, Higson also penalised for a high shot that was across the guys belly

I didn't necessarily see it as that reffy. I thought Wakefield upped the ante after half time, and were in our faces, both in defence and attack. We just weren't given the chance to impose ourselves, or even continue with Plan A, never mind have a Plan B! I was disappointed that the marginal decisions went their way, but that's the way it goes. Being fair to Wakefield, I felt it was their improvement that undid us, and that the final score probably accurately reflected the eighty minutes. (just like the Leeds game did, earlier this season)
We have tended to learn well, so far - this is another opportunity to learn some more.

The way the ref manages certain areas will dictate the outcome of many games, if he is consistent then errors are human.

Hi reffy did you go? If so he wasn't just harsher he was bent, and I include the 10m policing in that. Teams lose games but refs can give impetus

| Stop your playground posing Maurice, it is repetitive nonsense. Referees are in turn totally crap or excellent and all points in between, none of them are bent.

| If Hampsire catches the ball like he should, the referee doesn't even come into the equation.
I actually went Maurice and we blew it of our own accord - Our kicking game was absolutely dreadful second half. We may as just passed it straight in to Jones-Bishop's bread basket as that is where each kick landed.

The few calls a ref makes in terms of influencing moments in a game pale into insignificance in comparison to a player running a line, picking a pass, making a brake l, grounding a ball, kicking a ball, dropping a goal, dropping a ball, passing forward, not passing at all, missing a tackle, taking a dummy, slipping over, getting injured, fatigue, losing ones temper, getting put in the sin bin.....
Do you get the point? Ref tiny tiny input! 34 players bloody huge input into a result.

Stop pontificating from the moral high ground you reside Reffy, did you go? He took Leigh back farther all night, that is not by accident its by choice/deliberate. I can handle mistakes as they make calls as they see it as it happens, they choose how they implement the 10m or allow the ptb to be. Bent? Incapable of doing the job? Agenda? What makes a ref choose to do that?
One thing is for certain we are not getting the rub and its not evening itself up so far. Should we have won - certainly should, would we have won with Josh on when we had some ball on their line eventually in the 2nd half - probably. Did we play some dumb RL second half - certainly did.
A general observation of todays refs is that they are young and inexperienced - the experience decided to leave for some reason.
I will say it again give me the whistle tomorrow for Leigh v NRL table toppers and I will guarantee a Leigh win, that is how much these guys control the outcome of games. Consistency is needed.

If a team was asked to play every game uphill and against the wind does that give the equally matched opponents an advantage - do you get the point now?? I don't want to notice the ref, the best games you never do. All I would ever ask is consistency to allow the best team on the day to win ie the one doing or not doing what you state above. Last night that was not the case and I will accept that every penalty against us was correct in that statement.

| The images emerging on social media of Wakefield last try that was controversialy given don't help the cause of the Ref, seems another error.
Pity the video ref didn't have the same angle via the SKY cameras.
