| I know Greg Worthington is leaving, but where is yet to be announced regardless of speculation.
Derek thanked him at the awards evening for his efforts and professionalism.
I would like to send my thanks and wish me him luck and will be sorry to see him leave.
I reckon he still has a huge future in the game

| I could not agree more about Greg Worthington. He has been the best centre outside SL this year and is a young player I would have loved to have seen stay with us and develop his career further here at Leigh.

I think I read that the plan was for Toronto to be based in Bratfud and that they would only travel to Canada for 'home' games. Whilst it would make sense to stay there for their 'block of four', timing games for, say, Monday-Sunday-Saturday-Friday would keep in sync with the Rounds, avoid five day turn-arounds and, even allowing for a couple of initial days to kill the jet lag, see them in Canada for three week stints only - hardly the sort of cricket tours that beggared up Thorpe & Tresco.

| Something else occurs to me about this whole Canadian shenanigans; if teams like Batley only have a playing budget of £150K (M.E.N. recently) what are the budgets of the teams in League One? All those players will only be making tuppence 'a'penny from RL and having to hold down full time jobs. Whilst Toronto are, under the terms of the franchise, obliged to reimburse all the visiting oppositions' expenses, what about the lost time at work for the players? Even if you are expecting a tonking, it's not safe to fly across the Atlantic and play Rugby against pros without adjustment days. I know that it amounts to only one trip a year but it would probably see a week of your holiday allowance gone. Mrs Bongser for one would not be too impressed with that especially as it wouldn't result in a whole new outfit.
I think that Red Hall's pursuit of the expansionist dream is, as usual, dumping on the grass roots game.
As to the recruits from Leigh, I don't like the way that PR has ripped up the PR handbook, but if players are going because they see that they have been ousted from pole position by better ones, it only bodes well for Leythe. Wish them well if they want to pursue the Toronto SL dream but I'd advise them against believing any promises made by a certain man regarding their personal involvement there!

BaB, with regards your last paragraph, I agree players see it as a Canadian adventure, with a few quid to be earned as well, I ant blame them and I feel we have replaced them with better players and if we get to SL I don't think Derek and Jukesy will let us down in terms of recruitment.

Wouldn't it be the same for a Challenge Cup game?

Moi Moi has trained the house down all year, to secure a final playing contract with Leigh for one more year. He has had a good season IMO.
I do believe he now has that offer on the table.

Fair point, Atomic, though for each semi-pro or amateur team, the chances of an away tie are reasonably slim.

My youngest daughter's favourite player, she will certainly hope that he pops his monicker on a Leigh contract. If the management believe he's worth a new contract, despite increasing niggles, then I'll be right behind them.

Fuifui Moimoi has had a brilliant season.
For me, Fuifui reminds me why I love this sport. If it was all just about winning trophies everybody would support Wigan/Saints/Leeds. But at the end of the day we watch rugby because we love it and because we enjoy it, and Moimoi makes me ENJOY my rugby.
He is a huge character and an absolute joy to watch. Moimoi would be in my team on merit and because he adds something special to our squad. But beyond that, he really puts the FUN back into rugby league and I really appreciate that. I get a lift from the moment his name is announced and you can feel that going through the whole stadium.
Fuifui Moimoi puts the fun back into rugby league and into Leigh Centurions, and I love him for it!

Ian , yours and the previous 3 posts say how much you all rate Fui, and what a great player and a good bloke he is, but I've heard he is considering this Toulouse offer, maybe he fancies a final season in the French sun,I agree he has come back from illness and done well, time will tell if he is offered a new Contract, and then if he signs it.

I heard a few months back Fui had signed for Leigh reserves but who would blame the big man for having one last big pay day the big man has nothing to prove and if we did go up don't think he would cut it week in week out in super league but on the other Hand can you imagine wot he would do to the likes of Oxford and Hemel stigs.

| Well dixon has done eell 4 us when fit, SL quality no, so good luck in canada and thanks. Pownall always tried his best, but clearly not Sl class. If jukes amd db rated em snd wanted em, they would of signed for us, they dont, so they have gone.

Correct Alan. The likes of Dixon and Armstrong will be busting a gut to bow out from this group as winners.
You often hear a team mention the phrase ' creating memories together'.
Both are total professionals, and I have absolutely no concerns with either.

Let's hope that they turn out to be treasured memories for all members of the squad that still wish to help deliver SL to LSV. No problem with any that fall into that category. Bon chance to them thereafter and the devil take the rest!

| The Centurians Squad page continues to list Dixon but none of the other Toronto bound players. Also still present are Beswick and Barlow, on the other hand surprised to see Tom Armstrong as gone missing?

Tom played at Featherstone last week.
The player sponsor page in the matchday programme, doesn't have Beswick, Barlow, Kay, or Pownall in it. Armstrong, Dixon and Worthington were there for the Salford game.

Dixon, along with Spencer, Reynolds and others were in attendance at Fev in full club gear.
Dixon, Armstrong, Spencer etc are ultimate professionals and still have a lot to offer for the rest of the season even though they are moving on.
Others... maybe not so much!

You've seen things with your own eyes this season already.Has DB not brought better players in to replace the outbound ones? Not only has he had to fork out for the incoming players but also continue's to pay the wages of the ones sat at home.Thats what I mean about financial backing.
Again it maybe continual Toronto crap too you,but its been costly to our club. I'm not saying players don't get approached outside their windows, but thats usually one player not half a dozen from one club by the same club with no intervention or questions asked from the governing body.
The season/squad is by far better now than last, with no thanks to Paul Rowley, his disciples and the Toronto Whateverpack. But I respect your point on not caring about the rest.

I still fall to see what any of that has got to do me me saying that "I" - meaning me personally - have had enough of all the Toronto crap. They are gone and we move forward thanks to Derek and the great crowds we are getting. One is a negative the other is a very large positive. I prefer the latter.
