ST books can be 'lost', re-issued and then mysteriously found. The people working the gate would not have a clue if any duplicated books had been used.

Whilst at HP I know of someone who picked up a previous years ST book which still had a few unused coupons in it. They simply walked up to the gate ripped a ticket out of it and gained entry. I saw that with my own eyes.

However, It's supposed to be a state of the art stadium we play in these days. So let's get the scanners working. As Matt correctly states the chances of any abuse then is virtually zero.

It's as simple as that.

Fix the scanners. Simple as that. I'd be amazed if there aren't covered by the maintenance contract for the turnstiles.

No, the club did not lose one penny actually as it was a genuine mistake and the person already had paid for ST that covered the game in question. Quite rightly being a legitimate ST holder , they were reluctant to pay twice.

It just shows how a book could be abused

As an aside, if you are unfortunate to have your ST book / card lost or stolen on the opening weekend of the season , what is the club policy ?

Probably the same as if you lost a tenner

I lost my season ticket at Hilton Park when it used to be a laminated card that was punched each game (was the night when we beat Workington 70-0 in 2001). Got a replacement the day afterwards and was even reunited with the original when the terraces had been swept, so I find it very unlikely that "unlucky, pay up again" would be the standard response.

But if it was a book of match tickets, you would only be risking losing 1 match ticket surely?

Yes, Sophie lost her junior ST a couple of years ago and the club was very good to re issue one for her on that occasion.

Also I am pretty sure The ST book always used to say the coupon had to be taken from the book in the presence of the gate man or words to that effect.

If I remember didn't they decide which number ticket to rip out on the day ie it was a random number each week?

This was to prevent anybody copying the tickets on a printer, not an issue with the hologramed tickets we now have

just use a bloody card and change the colour each season easy I would think

Which is fine as long as the LSV operate the system properly , which it has been noted they havent always done in the past, costing the CLUB income

If they place a Steward outside of each turnstile to make sure that People are using the correct card ,before they enter the turnstiles then no-one would get in would they ,and then we would have all the gate money that we should have without being d about the L.S.V, and their incompetence

I agree Linda. Unfortunately the chavs will continue to try rip off the system.

Has anyone ever actually seen someone pass their card back under the exit gates so is this an urban myth? Again, if the scanners were used properly then the cards wouldn't be allowed entry more than once.

Which is what I said earlier Matt, the responsibility lies with the LSV , not the club, but it is the club that has the most to lose, this year with every adult ST also including a junior ST, there can be be no loopholes

So if a card, they must be colour coded and scanned every match

I didn't initially take up on the offer of a Junior Season Ticket when I purchased my adult one. I now would like to. Can anyone see any issues with this? I don't know the individual yet as I intend the owner to be someone at the school my wife teaches at and I would like it to be a prize for good work and behaviour.
