I totally agree with T V Boys last post . some who post on here are so negative and are dragging the club down.I really wonder what you expect to gain from all the moaning and negative posts . Get behind the team and the club whilst you still can because the way some folk are talking we wont have ateam to support next season. I cannot imagine Not watching Leigh RLC the team me and my family have supported for over 50 years.

It's a pity that the RFL have forced this 'twinning' agreement, surely ANY Championship/One club targets a player that they would like on loan, not having to use somebody from a specific club.
We should have stayed 'independent'....but nowt I can do, SULK or carry on as normal. Chose the latter.

He is a guy who works passionately for the club. The post you quoted he aimed at fans who said they will not go to games because we might take 2 DC players from Wigan.

There is no rivalry. Despite some Leythers having huge chips on both shoulders and some Pie Eaters being arrogant there really has not been a rivalry except in the minds of the small minded for 2 nearly 3 decades. Wiganers actually want Leigh to do well as long as it is not at the expense of Wigan RLFC. Saints v Wigan is the true rivalry, it always has been.

No matter what Trevor Barton and Leigh RLFC do, the same people will be whining about something / anything. Whatsmore, posters like Jesus confirm that the issue is not a partnership, rather who the partner is. Had it been Warrington, some of the whiners would be content. Anything but Wigan. Grow up!!

The 'goalposts' have shifted. Something Michael has tried to point out seemingly to no avail. The RFL altered a system that many of you no doubt were very happy with. Leigh and several other clubs joined together to voice their idea of how D/C should work rather than the farce of Swinton, Rochdale, Oldham etc.

D/C has been good for Leigh IMO. It has proven a way for Leigh as Barton stated to attract quality young players like Brierley that may have been lost to RL after being discarded by SL Clubs. If Wigan do not want Tom Spencer then where is now more likely to go, Leigh or elsewhere?

Leigh have been in partnership with Wigan ever since Paul Rowley took over as coach. The RFL requires Wigan and Leigh to formalise an existing prtnership. It just seems that anti Wigan hysteria by some Leigh fans has reared its head for no good reason.

I don't hate my Humble friends, the results of their junior investment are fantastic, but I am a proud Leyther who has little faith in how the club is being run and am bitterly opposed to twinning with anyone, not just Wigan. You simply do not do what we have just done, now I await to see how things develop

IMO both Wigan & Leigh get some benefit from the once unofficial partnership that the ROFL in their misguided wisdom have forced to be out in the open for us and Wigan to use it if necessary .

What do the Centurions get out of it ? ....... Well we have a small squad that like last year blew up in the play offs due to injuries and knackered players

, now we get to choose from a panel of Wigan's youth players who haven't made the first team squad this season and could cover some positions to help us out till the end of the season .

What do the Humbles get out of it ? ....... Well in their infinate wisdom the ROFL scrapped the reserves competition at the last minute leaving them in the lurch with nowhere for a group of young lads to play

they're not quite good enough to make the Wigan 1st team squad this year and they wanted to keep hold of them and were supposed to progress in the reserves , but that got scuppered , now they're to old to play for Wigan U19's , to good to play for South Wales , and the best place for them to progress their carreer is with a top Championship side in a competitive league .

I hope Fylde Warrior agrees ( I'm not to bothered if he doesn't

) but I don't begrudge giving a young lad a game , and as long as this agreement is used positively and retains the integrity of both clubs then I can't see much of a problem with it ......... as long as Tom Spencer on loan until the end of the season is part of the deal I'll be happy

You raise some good points but largely for any benefit DR has given Leigh one could argue we have also suffered under it due to squad disruption, equally Fev are showing ably just how much the goal posts haven't moved along with Fax and Sheffield who are all improving.
If Leigh had been in partnership with Wigan for some time then its been underhand and given us no benefit whatsoever (the trophy cabinet will be testiment to that) so I suspect a good working relationship between Rowley and Wane is more apt.

Time will tell who is right and if this was a masterstroke by the club or if it was the worst decison made in Leighs long and proud history.

You are probably nay you are right Jenky, I do not understand the depth of feeling perhaps although IMO does anybody? Even Leythers are well and truly divided as to those for and against DR / Partnerships. I think even those Leythers AGAINST DR / Partnerships are well and truly divided re motive. I can understand those who fear for their club but those who are simply against anything involving Wigan are IMO Pathetic! Some are so even though they deny it.

I have always felt that Leigh is part of the Borough I lived in. Health care for example saw plenty of relatives treated in the Leigh part of Wigan & Leigh hospital / health authority. I started watching RL when Wigan were emerging from the old 2nd division and Leigh were enjoying great times. I then saw a great period for Wigan RLFC. However, I saw my own club on the brink too as Robinson / Whelan wrestled for control of the club I support and consigned Central Park to a supermarket. So perhaps we Wiganers do understand how some Leythers self harm the very thing they 'love' by hankering after times gone by and that you cannot live in the past.

Featherstone certainly and possibly Sheffield / Halifax have been better run clubs for longer periods until the present day than Leigh. Every club is unique. I think Leigh having fought off closure have a decent board, a very good and improving coach, some reasonable players. However, to go forward they need that little bit extra in the shape of some outstanding young players. Whatsmore, should any of those players become permanently available where better for them to go than Leigh. None of this will happen overnight but if it does Leigh fans will see higher quality RL in their club colours.

I think the RFL are bafoons. I hate franchising. I want more NW clubs in SL. However, bleating about will achieve absolutely nothing.

Do you think us having potentially 4 different outstanding young players each match will be good for our team?

Or would we and possibly them not be better having the same 4? Like say on loan?

I'm going to assume these outstanding young players are currently full time, do you think they would look for full time employment at another club before moving to Leigh part time?

There are local lads from Leigh and Wigan playing for clubs up and down the country (well M62 anyway). why aren't the ones currently not good enough for Wigan not already at Leigh? I'd guess because the others pay more. Why will this partnership change that?
