| Just seen it. From the replay Anthony England wipes him out with a good shot to the shoulder but doesn't complete the tackle tho the player was prone. Dickens (legally) follows it the tackle and agressively (but legally) drops on him finishing the tackle.
Look thru the vid, you see it happen a few times thru the game from both parties.
If either player was cited for that tackle I would have been miffed. Leigh do have the right to cite players if they feel foul play was perpetrated. From what I understand neither players or coach wished to do that on friday.
It was a proper blood n snot game of the old school. No quarter asked or given. We've had players injured this year in what initially looked to be dodgy tackles but after review were simply sustained in the high octaine collision sport we watch.
The actions of Rangi Chase was a deliberate and cynical attempt to injure a player - that's different. I saw nowt from either team that warranted a citation on friday.
I try as best as I can to remain objective and try to avoid the blue n white tinted specs. If I saw it aggressive, daft, foul play, etc - I'd say so - see posts following Tim Spears dismissal v Batley and Ingy's red at Hunslet.
This one I think the ref called right - as apparently did player and coach. [I wasn't party to those conversations so can only post anecdotally.

| Leigh's team will pay Fev back for that incident Robin.
Our team always play within the rules.
Our coaching team isn't daft. We will close down your halfbacks and have more than one kicker a week Thursday. ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

| Quote ="DETROITSOUL"Dickens is a master of cheap shots see him many times going in after the tackle with his elbow... hand into the face of oppo players on the ground, tough guys don't need to do that , pity James Taylor is,nt fit for the Centurions I'm sure he would show Dickins the. Correct way to smash oppo players down
'"
Well I agree with you soul boy - I wished he was fit and in an agressive mood. Cos the first time he transgressed the penalty would ome our way!
It happens. Remember the NRC 3-4 years back at our gaff when (Armistead I think it was) took Tommy Haughey out with a head shot - flattening him and got the red card?? We went onto win in what was a very tight game!! That incident cost Leight he game that day IMO. I'd be quite happy to see that again owd cock!
Don't give me all that we're whiter than white at Leigh and wouldn't dream of shifty stuff!!! I have seen us getting some right tonk at the hands of Leigh players in the past. That noteable angel Tim Street was just such a love wasn't he!
Shyte happens! You came second on Friday. On another day you won't. But stop acting like the halos struggle to keep up with the Leigh players!! ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif)

| I didn't see it like you but c'est la vie.
I just love the emotive language used!! ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif) Yet when the two Leigh lads were up before the disciplinary t'other week I can't remember reading too many "CHEAP SHOT" comments!!
It's a physical game. Some players (mainly prop forrads - it's in the job spec) like to 'enforce' their dominance. Sometimes it's our players that do it, sometimes it's the opposition! It's not netball - it happens. On friday we just got the upper hand. Like I said earlier, another day we won't.
But the failure to acknowledge that Leigh players would ever involve themselves in such dreadful shenanagins makes me smile! ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif) They have, they do and they will!!!
Love n peace man! ![DAISY icon_biggrin.gifAISY:](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//daisy.gif)

| Please never remind me again of Leigh's last NRC match at Fev. It was in the group stages on a February night in 2009. Hobson was the man who was meant to have taken out the Fev player. I do not think it was the main factor in our defeat. We also had a man sin binned and had to contend with the small matter of a 21 4 penalty count against us. Incidentally a Fev player wiped out Nicky Stanton in the first half right in front of me and he left the field never to return. I think we may have got a penalty. It was one of the most inept and biased refereeing performances I have ever had the displeasure of watching. Who was the great man in charge? The one and only Jimmy Child. What is even more sad perhaps, is that Mr. Cummins was in the stand that night and we all know how Mr. Child has never looked back. Yet another event that highlights what a cheap joke our game often is. What I do distinctly remember though and I have respected him for it ever since, was RFF coming on this board to say as much. Credit where it is due.

| It''s a bloody hard game. Leigh have always had a physical side - and we haven't always had it "our own way" when playing Leigh.
I try to be as objective as I can. When Ingy got sent off v Hunslet I thought it was a stupid reaction to provocation that deservedly got him 2 matches.
When Tim got sent off v Batley I again thought - daft deliberate action deserving 2 games. Sometimes it happens - AT ALL CLUBS!!!!
The 'point's scoring or assuming the moral high ground gets a bit tedious when folks are quick to leap on indiscretions (perceived or otherwise) of opposition players carefully omitting from their text that their teams players would be even capable of contemplating such action - when reality suggests otherwise.
Now this Jamie Child thing - I watched us on the wrong end of a 17-2 pen count that same season at widnes. What an hapless kuwaiti tanker she is.

| So in other words, we are back to square one with this incident. Leigh did not cite the incident because they never do. The RFL disciplinary must have singled this incident out. DVD inconclusive, so they are saying they basically haven't got the required level of footage to say one way or t'other ( they haven't got a clue) If Leigh can replicate the way that Dickens and England approached this tackle with regularity and go unpunished on Thursday and in future matches this season, I will be very pleased.

Neither player nor coach made any suggestions of foul play and indicated that these things happen in a contact sport - hence no citation from Leigh.
The evidence they reviewed suggests whilst inconclusive suggests "shoulder to shoulder", which is how player, coach and myself saw it in real time.
Are you suggesting they should have banned Ingy or Stu because of "your feelings" despite what evidence there is suggesting otherwise?
Quote ="underthesticks"icon_wink.gif If Leigh can replicate the way that Dickens and England approached this tackle with regularity and go unpunished on Thursday and in future matches this season, I will be very pleased.'"
I expect Rugby League forrads to approach each tackle with aggression and determination. If it's a fair tackle I'll accept the outcome.
If a player comes out with the deliberate attempt to illegally hurt someone then he'll be sent from the field.
I realise you haven't suggested that UTS but the underlying tone is there. e.g. despite player testimony and available evidence you still believe foul play took place and went unpunished - something you hope will be reciprocated thursday!
C'est la vie.

| BTW RFF, as I have said before, I respect you as a poster, but you, just like myself, are bound to be a bit biased. The incident has gone, so we move on. C'est la vie as you say. However, take Leigh and Fev out of the equation and the Pownall incident and please reassure me that you do not genuinely believe that RL refs always send players from the field that deserve it. I know you know the game too well for that. Have you never watched the wonderful SL?

| Occassionally, and it really is occasionally. i.e. when our 23's haven't got a game, carol is reading "yet another 50 shades of grey" and doesn't want disturbing, and when there's nowt else on telly and I can get a freebie streaming service on t'interweb - I might, just might watch cas get beat!
You know as well as I do that players sometimes get away with murder (some more than others) and some get targeted because of their reputation - neither is fair.
I also realise that 3 officials have to make several decisions a second throughout the game and they are charged with officiating on how many tackles a game?? It's inevitable that some dodgy ones go unpunished. It happens.
As an aside, this season we've had more than our fair share at the disciplinary. Our discipline earlier this season mirror'ed 2007/8 season - at times it was sheeeite!! No fev players have appeared at the disciplinary without just cause. Similarly, it is inevitable that some fev players have got away with wrong un. It happens. The reaction of opposition coaches/players are usually a good indicator. Tho given Karl Harrison's response to thursday's defeat you might question that sentence! ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif)

| Am I correct in saying that Pownall came off with a facial injury also?
I have replayed the tackle a few times and this was not caused by the shoulder contact but possibly by the fev forward diving on him with force with a swinging right arm as he lay injured on the ground. Hard game it is but that wasn't very sporting.

Possibly, but that's not what Pownall, Rowley or the disciplinary suggested. "Shoulder to shoulder" being the likely conclusion.
Under the sticks is correct. Time to let this one go now. The disciplinary has concluded, player, coach, Leigh club and RFL see no case to answer. It's a hard game. Stuff happens.
I'm heartened to here the lad is not injured as badly as we first assumed. I hope he's back playing for Leigh as soon as is possible. I wish him good luck and a very speedy recovery.
