Cheers mate, I'm not proud of getting on Paul's back, I'm not normally a coach, or ref slater. But I'm wrong this time I think. The lads wouldn't play and commit like that, knowing there was another bigger game next week, unless they were coached well.

Defence - EVERYONE deserves massive credit for that!

Attack - After the initial onslaught from Fax, Riddy and Beswick controlled the pace of the game with ease. Duffy (1st half) and Brierly (2nd) added that 'killer' touch to put a few tries in. Thought McNally chimed into the line really well too at crucial times. Obviously they were only able to do this because our pack was so dominant so well done to the forwards, they were superb!!

I feared the worst when Parker went off after about 12 minutes or so (and then Duffy too before halftime!!) but the 3 remaining props and the pack in general still managed to smash the Fax pack into the turf. Big mention for Tommy Goulden who I thought had a HUGE game tonight.

Think we showed real grit and determination tonight. I don't think many teams would have been able to withstand that opening 25 minutes from Fax, it was relentless but we just soaked it up and still had enough left in the tank to take them to the cleaners in the 2nd half.

Well done Leythers, great atmosphere tonight too, loved it!!

Not a great game at all, yer the right team won no arguing with that but the other team after an initial burst played very badly and the game was never close once Leigh got 16-6 up, so apart from Leigh fans it was not a good spectacle, knock ons galore and no stand out tries unless you watched a different game to me?

A victory built on defence, no doubt about it. Absolutely unreal to withstand the pressure in the first 20 minutes and we coped with pretty much everything 'Fax threw at us.

No I disagree mate, 3 tries came from the slippery conditions (we lost the ball over our line) not that great rugby imo. No sour grapes we lost and deserved to as we fell way below our standards so far most of this season, I think this Cougar fan may be a little biased don't you think being our neighbours?
Hey come back after next week as if you beat us again then we will have to accept you are better than us. We shall see eh, personally I dunno as I am shocked how poor we were tonight and feel that we can up our game 75%, can Leigh play that well again?

I said something similar at half time. Our defence had been so incredible in that 1st half that if we had tired and let in a couple of late tries to lose I would still have been proud of the lads. As it happened we DID let in a couple late on but not before we had blown Fax out of the water!! Hopefully we can show the same sort of determination again next weekend!!

So last time Fax were under strength, this time the weather was against you sounds like excuses to me.

It looked a great game to me too from where I stood.
WE wont have Spencer or Laithwaite for the CC game, but I suspect Taylor and Bibey to step in.

Outstanding defensive effort from Leigh in bad conditions play like that for the rest of the season and we will be adding more silverware to the A Cup from last season..

Excellent performance, credit to everyone of them and top marks for Rowley and the coaching team, he sent them out with a clear game plan, and they stuck to it, even the early onslaught, losing Parker after about 15mins, Duffy just before HT, even the weather, didn’t distract the lads from the task.

I think you need to pay credit to the fitness of our boys, after that 20 minute onslaught you would imagine the energy levels to go from the team doing all the defending. Not so last night!

Could pick good contributions from all the 17, but I think we will really miss littler if he's banned for the CC.

It wasn't flash, but it was controlled, well drilled and excellent execution of a game plan.

on the forum banner its say four championship players charged, Littlers name wasn't on, so fingers crossed, however Spencer and Laithwaite can't play, so lets hope Bibey, Parker and Taylor can.

Just one minor thing - the number of forward passes from Beswick from acting halfback to a player who has over run him. Twice last night and a couple against Hornets last week. I am convinced that we are the only club in RL to get penalised for forward passes though.

I think Martin Ridyard just needs to take his kicks more seriously! Goal kicking does win games and, I would advise him to seek some advise on his technique and attitude to the task! I'm a massive fan of his playing ability and its no coincidence he is more involved when Duffy is not Scrum Half! I would advise Paul Rowley to let Brierly retain the Scrum Half job, all this rubbish about being too young dosn't wash! Paul should remember when Steve Simms came to Leigh, he took one look at the 1st team squad, decided they were not good enough and, immediately promoted three 17 year olds! one of whom was Paul himself and, he never looked back from that!. We saw on Sunday what Ridyard & Brierly could do,Duffy does have a place in the squad but, it has to be at Hooker!
