| I have just sent an email to the LSV because there was a part of Salfords new place that really did please me. The lack of advertising hoardings close to the pitch was great and made the playing area look open and larger. Our hoardings look like an eyesore because they are half empty or have odd adverts on them. I know the place needs advertising for dosh but is there no way they good go to different parts of the stadium or even flashed up on the big screen instead of just showing the score. Some of these adverts could be up under the stands where people congregate. Anyway it was nice to see an open unobstructed playing surface.

The first few games at the LSV didn't have any advertising boards either - it won't be a permanent deal because of contractual advertisements with the league/RFL, not to mention it being a big revenue stream for the club/stadium.

Well with the number of times a season we are on TV what with finals' thursday night league games and the usual playoff game ( ) I think advertisers would want their adverts where the cameras could see them so I doubt they would be happy having them solely in the bar areas.

wont be for long Alan , all of SL teams are getting the advertising boards that move like footy clubs have these days, Ive seen this stated somewhere.

| Well maybe they could sit just infront of the stand or fixed to the crush barriers. It would give people something to bang on like we used to do at HP with the hoardings on the little wall that surrounded the field.

I would expect them to be stand alone from the existing concrete barrier - if anything it provides an extra barrier between the pitch and the stand in case any numpty fancied jumping on the pitch.

| It wasn't Maurice although naturally I wish it had been.
Our best crowd at the LSV was when we thrashed Wigan and best of all was last season's International and obviously that would have been better had Leigh got a Railway Station

We don't count that one though, Maurice. Wasn't that the one where W***n cheated, and sent international players over for the game, making a complete mockery of the arrangement we thought we had with them?

I think it was when we won 14-12 through a late try. I do not recall Wigan ever winning at the LSV although I am a frail pensioner on a fixed etc' although I never say anything.
Well if I am wrong it won't be the first time. And if we did I would have been there but they didn't.
What's everyone had for their tea ?

| Although our game was the first played at the Salford City Stadium , I was told our game was only the certificate game , to pass H&S regs . The official opening game will be when they play the pies there . Don't know how much truth there is in that , only going off what I was told by a fellow Leyther.
Stadium review , best part of the ground was seeing that they had Strongbow on draught in the more than draughty concourse bar . Breeze block n tarmac take it they were going for the rustic feel. Might pay another visit to the stadium when it's finished or when it's been upgraded.

Quote ="leythdave"The East stand at the LSV is a dedicated TV Gantry, and it has a couple of lifts to also provide a platform for wheelchairs.
Seems like saleford have tried to put it all in the main stand, to try to make it look impressive.
It was said when the LSV was built that it is the blueprint for future stadia, seems like peel holdings weren't listening.
We have Desso Grassmaster pitch, undersoil heating, high def floodlights to name a few.
Barton doesn't boast
any of this, and neither does Langtree Park for that matter!'"
The only thing Saints doesnt have is undersoil heating and thats because the stadium is a RL ground and therefore for a SUMMER sport.
Leigh sports village was built for Leigh RMI soccer club and yourselves, so needed undersoil heating as its used all year round
The floodlighting at Langtree Park is definitely HD standard. You can see how bright the lights are from the Stadium thread on the Saints board.
They are a massive improvement on those at Knowsley road or Widnes for that matter, whose floodlighting had blind spots in corners were it was dark.
As for the pitch at Langtree park. I dont know if its a Desso Grassmaster but it is certainly a high tech pitch, and one for which Saints have consulted the head groundsman of LSV about.

So you wont be playing there till May, I take it? , and you will be turning down money from Liverpool/Everton to let there reserves play?
If it had been ' stitched ' you would know about it, the process involves machinery on the pitch for 2/3 weeks, although it was only installed after 2 years at the LSV

Aren't St. Helens Town FC supposed to be based there as well? I can sadly say the LSV definitely wasn't built for RMI, but the undersoil heating has definitely come in handy in the LSV being awarded international fixtures in the colder months.

LSV was quite impressive on Sunday, even though there were no padded seats for those used to them!
The atmosphere will be quite good with crowds even as low as 4,000.

| Widnes won 28 6. A couple of late tries accounted for a scoreline which flattered them.
