Duffs may not be here, holding out for more money as well as working on the community side. Imo this gives us a huge opportunity to bring in a quality player to do the dual role whilst taking Tomkins on loan from Wigan or running with Beswick/Nicholson with Beswick starting then moving to 13..

In fairness to Duffs, and so he isn't accused of being mercenary, I believe he has been offered a significantly reduced contract, this time round.

Hence he is holding out for more money.

Duffs never lets us down, but we have what we have and he holds down a community job as well. If he signs great, if not then the offer incl community job would attract a decent player in todays financial climate

Very true Frank, but we, as Duffs does, have to strip the emotion from the decision. Contract plus community job = decent wage at this level imho. If it aint good enough for him, then fair enough as he must look after himself and his family first, simply get someone else and wish him all the best.

Have to say that he did get a lot of lads coming up to him during that game for autographs and he dealt with them all with a few words to each - sporting lad both on and off the field it would seem - just a pity he plays for you know who.

I've been away for months yet even I know Duffy isn't employed by the club in the community department, A. we haven't got a community dept B. his funding was withdrawn by the RFL/Bolton Council, I wonder if he got it all what was left owed or just the percentage like the others?

We do have a community Dept but the club dont fund it, it is funded by grants, and run by Hannah Forbes, fact. Reason I know is my hubby is a trustee of this.
Duffy did work for the Community Dept last year, funded by the RFL.

Were the community dept staff given notice or not back when the money ran out?
If they are still operating why does no one know about it? as the last the fans were told was that it had gone.
How much grant money has been found?
How much grant money is needed?
Wasn't Duffs paid by the RFL through a grant by Boltom MDC?

Is Heather still involved or have all (well both) the 'workers' not been employed?

Duffy still works for the RFL as the development officer for Bolton. There was a short interview with him on the RFL website after Bolton School beat Haydock High in the Champions Schools comp last week.

It may be a case of 'holding out for more money' but I would hazard a guess that the 'more money' still wouldn't bring his contract close to how much he may have been earning last season.

why dont you ring Hannah and ask her all these details, all I know is that hannah runs this and Heather is also involved, all the grants etc she will have details of.
As for Duffy I thought he got paid by both the Club and the RFL for the work he did for the community dept.
