Perhaps Bradford think that they will get a bigger total crowd on a friday night given that on sunday it is the final round of the premiership football season (season deciders perhaps). I would have thought that the home team team chooses the date & time of the match.

It has to be agreed by the two clubs and the RFL, but I think both have certainly got an eye on the recovery time before their next games when choosing to play on the Friday.

A poor decision by whoever agreed to it on behalf of Leigh IMO.
Quite a few quid will be lost off a shared gate as I would have expected Leigh to take there biggest away following for 5 years to this game building on the recent momentum/feel good factor.
Equally I would imagine a few Bradford fans would have looked at this as a potential banna skin worth turning up to watch or at the very least a close match until the last 10mins.

For future games I think the RFL need to stipulate that if you have part time v full time in the CC the game must be on a saturday or sunday to at least allow players who work to perform to there best and fans who want to watch what usually is the clubs biggest fixture of the year the chance to get to it.

But the priority out of the two games that week is the Widnes game, so if the two days extra preparation is the difference needed to beat the Smoggies then so be it, I reckon.

there is simply no question of me not attending, if it were 4 in the morning i'd be in attendance, i understand the widnes game situation, but nobody will ever convince me that friday night is the time to play rl games.

omg, just realised, not only a friday in bradford, but the real possibility it could be our first game in 13 years under a conservative government, it gets worse as i think about it.

rugby league rules state that home teams dictate day and time of kick off and visiting team has to abide. this is from experience with reserve team fixtures from years ago. lets just get on with it and prove how good we really are.

Well the 250 mile trip back from Portsmouth aint going to put me off attending, far from it actually. I think a few of you need to stop dripping about the Friday night decision and get on with! Anyway with Utd playing Stoke on Sunday it would have stopped a few of my mates going to the game had it been played that day.

Even though I am retired and on a fixed income I shall be there.

I cannot understand why we would have a poor following when we played Dewsbury away on a Wednesday in the NRC we had a good number of fans there.

How long does it take to drive from Leigh to Bradford ? Coaches could leave at 6-30pm and get there in plenty of time and quite honestly most folk would be home from work at that time on a Friday.

I think we will take more than 400.

In order to pay the prices and make the trip I think the least the fans can expect is some assurances from our club that we'll field our best possible side. There is the risk of injury in any game but Widnes seem a pretty average team so I'm not concerned about us not turning them over the following week.

I could be starting a new job next week so if I got that I doubt I'd make the trip. I had every intention of going had it been on a Sunday. I've no idea why they've switched the game but they've done themselves out of some good away support and revenue.

Seems admission is a tenner no idea re concessions.

Doesn't it smack a little that they're treating us somewhat with contempt though and taking us lightly? I know they're an SL side but they've been fairly poor until recently and I'd imagine they won't want to risk all their top players.

i shall be there as i have just booked it off for both , but a number of people on a weekday after doing a full days shift will be knackered

I may still go I'll decide nearer to the time but I was definitely going if it had been on the Sunday. I guess many other people will be saying the same thing but as someone else said it may benefit us with the Widnes game on the Thursday.

I cannot believe the reaction of some Leigh fans. Thank god none of you had to make the journey the lads and club officials had to do last weekend. Moaning about a Friday night over the M62, jesus.

Yes it will make it difficult for some fans now to make the game but this game isn't the most important game in our season and with the Widnes game soon after I think the club has made a smart move in playing the game on the Friday, our chances of turning them over remain the same, it just means we'll probably have less fans there but more importantly an extra couple of days rest before a far more important game against Widnes in the league!

I have said before we will be in 3 finals this season. Bradford will play their strongest side cos they will need too.

I hate Friday night games 'over the hill', but I'll still be there! I think both coaches will prefer Friday, for recovery time. Let's face it, the Widnes game is still more important, because the sad fact is, even when we win the Challenge Cup, it won't count towards a SL application!



We were potentially playing three games within 11 days, but now they are much better spaced out - Bradord (Friday) - Widnes (Thursday) - Featherstone. (likely Wednesday) From a playing viewpoint, that's been a smart move.

Does anyone know if we have to purchase tickets in advance and if they'll be available from our ticket office?
