| I reckon they'll have to go with someone who is currently out of work because they wont want to pay any compensation. I'd imagine they'll want someone with experience of the position they're in though.
I'd imagine they must have someone in mind to have done it like they have so it's going to make for an interesting few days.

I suspect it will be Alan Curbishley, he's been in that situation before with Charlton.

| They could do alot worse than Hughes. Manchester City haven't got a clue how a club needs to be run. They've got more money than sense now and are making just as bad decisions as they did when they didn't have much money.
I remember the season they sacked Peter Reid after 4 games after he'd got them in the top 6 the season before... absolute madness.
Jewell would be my bet... he was linked with the job when Megson got it and he's got a knack of getting results. He's also honest and up front which is something the supporters will appreciate. Whoever it is I'm sure attendances will go up as I know people who having been going because of Megson.

We have gone through some managers, and I think panicking has ruled at City for years. Expectation levels (unrealistic sometimes) didn't help. Tho examples like Reid getting fired off was a joke, I think Hughes just didn't have what it took at City tbh. He ripped the heart out of our defence before making gradual changes. He pursued some players publicly in such a way that Moyles and Big Sam where rubbing their hands with the amount of money they got for players that where no better than what we had. Our defensive problems got worse by the match. Not many City fans where confident of beating Stoke at Home, and Wolves away when Hughes was in charge. The media (who built his sacking up for the last 12 months) have over hyped it all of sudden - they handled it very badly no doubt but the change had to be made. They could have waited for the semi in a wait and see, but with a banana skin away in FA cup looming it wasn't worth the risk.
He did great at Blackburn tho.

| Quote ="Alexs Dad"They/we dont/didnt.
He had every chance and more. He had more money available than any other Bolton manager and had the support of the vast majority until the last few months.
When he was appointed many were not convinced but only a small minority made it known and were more often than not drowned out by the majority.
Supporters groups urged him to open up to the fans and ignore the minority. He was given more than anough opportunity to reach out to those who supported him but he didn't.
He then took a reserve team to Lisbon in the QF of the Uefa Cup because we had Wigan a few days later. We lost both. If you've been a Bolton fan since the bad old days of 4th Division football, European football is a dream. To treat it with contempt was a disgrace especially when we'd already got results against Athletico Madrid and Bayern Munich - we could quite easily have gone further. Rangers were no better than us, the only team far and away better than any of the last 8 were Zenit who romped it.
The PR failing was mainly of his own doing with poor decisions and frequent negativity, his signings are by and large were abysmal, but when things didnt go right he always sought to blame the fans, who by and large had supported him up to the last few months, or the players.
In his frequent whinges at the noisy minority, he lumped us all in the same boat. There was no 'we' or 'us' with him, it was always 'this lot' or 'Bolton'.
That slowly alienated his best allies. He was lumping us with the halfwits but doing little to prove them wrong. Too many times he went too defensive at home against teams we needed to beat. Too many times it resulted in defeats or losing two goal leads. Too many times we were left to say 'we told you so'.
He created that atmosphere, nobody else.'"

| Bizarrely, according to SKY Sports News, Bolton are set to swap Gary Megson with Peter Reid?!
(Reidy to become BWFC boss, Megson has been offered a coaching job by Stoke?!?)
As a Wanderer I've always loved Peter Reid, but am not sure he's the right option for us at this time.
Would take him over Paul Jewell in a second though!

he also got bradford promotion to the premiership, 2 seasons after they were almost relegated to the third division and took wigan from the third division to the premiership, got them in the carling cup final and even got linked with the england job a few years ago

He also handed in his resignation with days of the season ending at 3 different clubs, despite having plenty of time remaining on his contracts, and took Wigan from a comfortable mid-table finish in 2005/06 to the bottom end of the table and narrowly avoiding relegation on the last day of the season in 2006/07.
Talk him up all you like, I don't want him at the Reebok (which means he will almost certainly be our next boss?!)
