Been a long shower frank!

I'd only move KO times that clash with any major England football Internationals (World Cup, European Championships etc) and as they are usually known way in advance it shouldn't effect the people who bought ST's as the club should have already planned for it.

As a lifelong Liverpool AND Leigh fan I will be watching the team playing in a Cup Final. If that was Leigh it would be them. But as it isn't I'll be watching Liverpool.

Probably not Alan, but I can't see them re-arranging the match at this stage.....those Taffs and Scousers will have already booked hotels and trains and everything!!!

I'm also a Leigh AND Liverpool fan - there might be more of us than you might think. I doubt I will be watching either though!

Ive said this before , my owd Dad told me when i was very young ,"Choose your team very carefully , youonly EVER support one team ", and thats very true , i like Lancashire Cricket team , and like Nicky Henderson as a Horse Trainer , but my team is the one and ONLY Leigh Centurions .

Didn't realise it made you less of a fan because you watch other sports. Lesson learned I suppose.

You were dead right Frank it did clear up lovely cold night for watching a good game of RL.

I suppose the point Charlie is making is that you can enjoy as much sport as you like, and follow the fortunes of other teams in other sports, but there will always be one sport, and one team that takes precident over any other - and if you have to ask yourself (on occasions were there is a clash) "which should I watch?"....then you aren't the 'fanatic' you thought you were!!

If you'd sooner watch or go to the Carling Cup final than Leigh v Hunslet - then you're a Liverpool/Cardiff/Wendyball fan who also enjoys watching rugby!!!

I was going to Carling Cup final had City had a bit more luck in the semi. So that makes me City over Leigh. I have also missed City league games to watch SL GF. So that makes me more of rugby fan than City fan. I have also watched Leigh big game over City league game. So that makes me more Leigh than City......it goes on but I think you get my drift.

Different matches hold different values for me.

Leigh v Hunslet doesn't mean too much. A cup final for Liverpool means a lot more. A cup final for Leigh vs A Cup Final for Liverpool = Leigh win every time.

I'll be at Leigh, because I'll be working. If it wasn't for that, I'm not sure I would be there as I value the Carling Cup Final more than I value a NRC group stage match versus lower league opposition.

All other things being equal, Leigh win comfortably every time. But not every Leigh game is equal, and not every Liverpool game (or England game, or NY Giants game, etc.)

I watch a number of sports and watching Leigh is top of the bill for me. However, the premise here is that if we can easily avoid it, why even force people to make the choice?

I agree with Micheal. If you have the chance to go to your team in a final - in whatever sport - then thats the first choice over a league game of one of your other sporting fancies even if your first love is another. Finals are special.

Yeah -but he's not going to Wembley - he's talking about us re-arranging our fixture so he can watch the Carling Cup on the telly!!!

I suspect if he had tickets for Wembley, we wouldn't have even had this thread!!

I say cobblers to it!! We've done enough pandering to others for the supposed good of our sport - Saturdays to Sundays.....then Fridays! Winter to Summer!!.....they even let the beeb alter the ko time of the Challenge Cup, so they can complete the broadcast in time to cover Final Score!!

Even if all the Leigh/Liverpool fans stay in the pub/at home on the day, I still doubt that it would have that much of an effect on our attendance - I reckon the weather will be more of a factor on our gate!!! (and how we've gone on the previous week!!)

I would never even think of altering a game because of a football match myself.

Must admit that I chose to go to Halifax away last season rather than watch Bolton in the FA Cup Semi Final....think I made the right choice there



The only others I've missed in the last 10ish years because of other sports were the aforementioned Leigh-Hull cup game in 2004 as I was in Cardiff for the Bolton-Middlesbrough Carling Cup Final (and in fairness there were hundreds of Leythers at that one), and a dead rubber NRC group game away to Celtic Crusaders in 2007 as it clashed with the Hibs vs Kilmarnock League Cup Final. Got a sneaky feeling I may have been the only Leyther at that one, mind

As a lifelong Leigh and Liverpool supporter I've had this issue a number of times down the years and it usually comes down to the importance of the fixture.

Therefore I'm afraid I'll be watching the Carling Cup Final thanks. I don't usually go to the opening games of the Northern Rail Cup anyway to be honest.

No doubt someone will give me a load of stick for my honesty but so be it.

besides isn't the Carling Cup a tin pot insignificant trophy anyway with about as much appeal as the lager the company sells ?
