Just watched the game again on Centurion TV. That trip by the Rochdale player on Brierley had me jumping out of my chair it was shocking.

That trip was cowardly and should be punished with a large ban. That sort of behaviour has no place on the rugby field. It could easily break a leg.

I expect a comfortable win in fairness.

When is the disciplinary committee? He will get three matches for that challenge.

Well I can't understand why considering the video evidence is compelling.

I wonder who decided that it was only a grade A offence ? A lenient charge in my view and shamefull.

Langley has submitted an early guilty plea and so has avoided a ban, although he now can not use an EGP for 12 months.

Luckily Kes was ok but at what stage does a 'trip' become a deliberate kick. It was a shocker from Langley. Probably 'earned' Rochdale a point too, Ryan had him beaten and there is nobody who'd have caught up to him if he'd gone through.

The key is in the "reaction to an opponent", he was flat footed and swung a leg, if he had moved towards Brierley and targeted him it would have been a more severe punishment. It did look bad because you don't see it very often but it would have only been a free kick and possible yellow card in football.

It was the last minute of the game so a red card wouldn't have made a difference but it was bad and probably deserved a match or two.

It was the cynical nature of it that got me annoyed. He did it to avoid losing a bonus point (and succeeded) but if we had been losing by 2 and he had hacked down Brierley who looked set to score a winning try then there would have been (even more) uproar on here and from Rowley too i'd imagine!

Well am not sure I agree with that but will ask Baby Bro'who is a referee' what he thought.

Deliberate trips deserve immeadiate dismissal in my opinion.

That's what used to happen but unfortunately some referees were over keen and players were sent off for minimal contact and sometimes no contact.

If a referee considers it to be violent conduct he can dismiss a player but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Don't think we will take them as lightly this week feel sorry for the lad who put one on acton last week if he plays would play Kay at 9 or 7 this week. sure he didn't come to leigh to play on the wing .

Play like last week and we are out.
We need to play as a team from minute 1 to minute 80 and get the ball wide as often as possible, ensure someone is on the kicker at the last tackle and concentrate on winning a match and not 'big hits' that will give Rochdale a excuse to distract us from the game and have a punch up.
Play like we can play and we'll win by 30 points, all depends on what Leigh team turns up (or what team is picked - Sundays was a little unfamiliar and it showed on the pitch at times).

Last week's team wasn't unfamiliar imo.

I thought Rochdale scored tries off good kicks and lucky bounces and I have watched the game again on Centurion TV.

Having said that I thought Hornets had a perfectly good try ruled out early on and the disallowed Leigh try which Higson would have scored which was never forward would have made the game rather one sided.

Leigh should win comfortably on Sunday also' imo.

Langley has been charged with a tripping but it will not be heard until next week.

Another tough cup encounter coming up, depends on who is fit as the 'bug' has hit the 'camp' hard again this week, we will know Tomorrow if Rowls will give us the squad whilst on our weekly 'spy' mission for LC TV.

Brilliant from Rochdale. Come on, it's on their website and a bit of fun and banter is all well and good, especially if they can get a few more spectators in for us to split the gate with. Would say the trip deserved more considering it won them a bonus point (which is in drastic need of scrapping). But ah well, that's all in the past, 3 points for us, lets focus on a win on Sunday now.

Well said Lowton_Sparrow, that was why I mentioned the official Rochdale website, they are clearly well up for this match and that came across in the (slightly biased) match report.

From what I've heard our lads are very fired up and (for once) I am going to throw caution to the wind and predict a Leigh win by 30+ this weekend.

Tar, it's what I think. I do think 30 pints may be a bit much considering how much Rochdale will be up for it (especially after last week) but so will we. Think we'll win by around 20 points (contrary to what I may have said on a post about this time last week
