why do people have this facination about numbers on backs of shirts? they have meant nothing in pro rugby since the squad number system started.

I did mention that in the first post but there's obviously a correlation between the 'traditional' shirt numbers and those that have been allocated to the players.

Of topic slightly but as Paul aint playing in the Salford game if Ellis plays brilliant & slots in great with us where does that leave Robbie?

i think ellis and riddy should be given first shot in the halves,robbie would go to hooker with duffy,or even better 'for me' play him at loose forward.i think he's to good not to play him.

I thought that was against HKR? I seem to remember Ant Murray started at hooker but with 15 on his back.

Robbie is definitely too good not to play I agree there J.C. I'd imagine most are wondering what will happen in the halves next season. I think Robbie will play a part in the halves through the season but dependent on how well Anthony does maybe Riddy at times will interchange with Ellis at 6 & Martyn could possibly play as 9 too through periods of the game also. Who knows?

On the issue of number 13, Armistead had that shirt last season and played at prop. That willprobably happen again this season. Also at the LISA meeting last week Basil said Taylor would most likely go at 13 as he sees us playing with an extra man to take the ball up.

Someone told me at the shirt launch he would still be in New Zealand when we play Salford.

There is one thing for sure and that is we have better options in most positions this coming season and we will have more pace all across the park.

Basil will probably try a few players in different positions in the friendlies. I expect us to score more points this coming season and concede less. I even think we will beat Batley in the NRC on Feb 6.

I think we need to get out of the mentality that a loose forward needs to be a ball handler. Watch the aussies and Kiwis.

Loose forwards over there are just an 80 minute wide running forward with a big aggressive defensive game. Leave the ball playing to 6,7 and 9

Think Nash running wide would cause problems for some teams

No way Nash can be a loose forward. Whenever I saw him last year he looked like he needed a rest after 15 mins. I liked it when we play Goulden there myself. Definatley need more depth in the forwards without a doubt. As it stands id be tempted to have a back 3 of Taylor, Littler and Goulden.
