The one that was being touted by the clubs/RFL of 12/14 teams in the Championship, with the new teams (if any) bolstering Championship One. There have to be more than nine/ten home games in the season, to generate some income - something we are going to need a lot of!!

As we only have 19 at the moment , and any less than 20 is getting silly , I'd suggest the RFL , bite the bullet , and commit to having a Championship 1 club in wrexham for the next 3 years , even if they have to set it up , fund it and run it
They asked for clubs currently outside the Championships to show an interest , that was almost a year ago , I haven't seen any mention of any clubs coming up with whatever ' criteria ' the RFL asked for , that is probably because the RFL were hoping that they would have interest from clubs with financial backing , as that is THE main requirement it would seem
The only way they will expand the pro/semi pro game is if they pay for it , but it would seem they want outside funding , like M r Samuels , and Mr s Moss and Roberts ,

| Well it certainly looks like it maybe doesn`t it ? Except for the fact that the protest was nothing about us not geting in Super League it was about transparency and a fairer deal for all Championship clubs and as such the protest carries on. There were people who bought Tshirts inc` Widnes supporters who also gave us encouragment so I don`t think we will be going away just yet.

Do you not believe your own chairman? Maybe best having a meeting with him first, considering "the assessment was fair and objective" after all.
You say this "protest" is nothing about not getting into SL, but your statement kind of hints that it was how all this started. I'm also pretty sure you wouldn't be protesting had you been chosen either.
The Fax board have either realized they was a bit quick criticizing the decision and found it fair after all having discussed it with RFL, or (less likely) they have been given some kind of promise for next time which if the chairmans rant is to be believed means he got burnt once and he is ready to wait to be burned again. Either way he looks a bit silly now.

Explain to me how any club now outside SL can put together a better bid than any club in SL ? , other than to attract a billionaire , cheat the salary cap , let fans in for free and fudge even free entry figures , promise to sell ST s for a tenner and outbid all their local SL clubs for the best juniors ?
We truly are Rugbys Forgotten Leagues , they only show interest in us when they've sorted SL , messed about with the grass roots and thought about their next crazy idea on expansion , we are that annoying child who has come back to the table asking for some more Gruel in ' Oliver '
Now if you're happy with that fine , but a few more years of that and you'll be happy with that stood on your own in the north stand at the LSV

| Maybe to answer most of those questions you need to go to that meeting I suggested for Johny and the gang. The chairman seems to be happy with the process, so let him explain. Though their chairman does seem to swing from one extreme to another so he may have changed his mind again.
This thread started because Fax did not get into SL. It shouldn't even be on this message board. Had they posted something relevant to all the clubs in the Championship, and not about their opinion of how unfair that RFL had the cheek to refuse Fax when clearly a "2 year old" could see they was ready.
As for the Championship I am with you to a certain point. But just like you being so keen to get the format of the Championship sorted for next season, you have seen it isn't that easy. There is no guarantee that the RFL could finance another club so we are stuck with 19 clubs at the moment - and despite all the comments of this should have been sorted by now, nobody has come up with a format up to now either.
IMO as I said before I think Wakey should have come down which would have given us 2x 10 club leagues, and removed a club from SL that everyone apart from Wakey thought should have dropped. Whats done is done though and we still have difficult situation of a league of 9 clubs at the moment.

| It would appear though that the Championship clubs ALL want more than NINE home League games and that the RFL agreed with that - back in February. Granted that increasing the Championship to 12/14 - the RFL's quoted figures - would create problems in Championship One, but the RFL was addressing that as well, by inviting applications to play in Championship One.

| I've just been reading on the Toulouse website, how they were told they wouldn't be continuing in the Championship. As a compensation, they have been told that they weill be in the Challenge Cup for the next three seasons, and the Northern Rail Cup, ("in anticipation of the new format"icon_wink.gif and a Franco-British tournament. ("format being defined"icon_wink.gif
So, it looks like the RFL is at least considering some changes for the Championship clubs.

I've heard this aswel. What i dont understand is how this will help the CC clubs, or why would semi pro clubs with semi pro players agree to this.

Fantastic , they've wasted close to a million in the last three years , so now they'll waste some more , once again flying players over the channel , this will however suite Toulouse better and will make them perform better against the Championship clubs , now why would they want that , I wonder ?
So what we actually have is three competitions , none of which has been sorted , even bloody worse
We need more British Championship clubs , not more games against clubs with no traveling support and no atmosphere at the games , they just don't understand what is required
As was suggested on the VT the other week , we need a ' Championship Director ' at the RFL , personally responsible purely for the lower leagues , not concerned with any other part of the sport , it seems we are just there to accommodate the RFL s agenda of expanding SL , nothing else

| Steve,
Toulouse are also suggesting that they will be in a good position to apply for a SL licence for 2015. Their ground renovation is supposed to have started, and they will no longer need to 'qualify' on the pitch. I can't see, for the life of me, why they should participate in the NRC then!
As for the Franco-British tournament, I fear that will generate less interest than the NRC group stages, or the Challenge Cup!
We wait to see how the RFL will implement their proposal of increasing the size of the Championship.

| I like the idea and concept of the Franco-British tournament, however fear it wont be of interest to anyone unless a wealthy prize is at stake, and the matches at least from the final 16 stages are televised.
