And yes J.C. lots happens in the off season especially for a new coach who will have to make various appointments re players, staff etc. then we have the new scholarship scheme which Gary Eccleston is in charge of but the head coach should have a strong input with, the list goes on and on, having a head coach in place before the end of October is very important.

People forget Norman's spell in charge of the team in 1998 before the arrival of Basil. Without raking through the record books I feel there were only a couple of wins and some heavy defeats along the way - plus the lowest post war crowd to watch the club in a league game - 698 at Hilton Park.

I have a lot of time for Norman though. He did a brilliant job as assistant at the club and steadied the ship superbly in the interim period before Paul Terzis arrived, before coming onboard again in 2003 after Paul's departure.

Fred, do you not think that a new coach will only be appointed if we get new investors on board? Until then I think the club will appoint Neil Jukes / Paul Rowley on an interim basis.

....what happens if we don't get new investors? Surely the current board have to make the decision based on a new investor not coming in, in the short term. Putting in an interim coaching set up would deter players from signing as they would want gaurantees for the season. The current board have to put things in place that ensure we have a coach and team for next year. It looks like there won't be a white knight stepping in, so we have to go it alone based on a realistic budget.

It depends I think on a number of matters but as this BoD has advertised I think they will appoint if the right man is available (whomever he may be), but then again there was no cut off date for applicants but that may have just been an oversight.
Plus if there are no new investors some of the board members may well not resign as we have to have a board of directors to continue.

In the Reporter it says "with an open deadline currently keeping options open ".

Peter Regan was coach at Batley just after inception of superleague and hope for your sakes that he has improved a lot as wasn't rated when he was at Batley.Defence was awful at that time.

Stanky is deffinatly leighs next coach. From very reliable source who told me Ian milward would be your coach a few years ago. Done good at Rochdale and turn things around

If he is to be Leigh's next coach then why have Rochdale not annouced it and, Leigh also, after all thats seems to be the way these things are done!


I'm on holiday at the meoment and didn't see the game at Fev however, after watching cup ties against Fev for over fifty years no one should have been surprised at the performance or, the result!
Big test for Millward on Thursday this will be his third play off game at whilst in charge of Leigh and yet to win one! he's lost Fev during his first stint and last year to Sheffield/Fax not sure which?
His devastated look, on the touchline, when he realised he had not got Leigh qualification for Super League application and, he might have got dismissed then by other clubs however, he knows like Murph did Leigh will always bw his road back! Lets see him win this Grand Final for us now!
