So you two faithful Leigh fans of sound mind believe that there was/is a conspiracy to keep Leigh out of Super League at all costs? Could it be because they have a ground that some SL clubs would love to play in and on top of that play a refreshing brand of Rugby League?

We knew at the start so we need to just get on with it.Too late too complain now. We should have 'complained' at the start of the season but don't remember us (the club and fans) doing so.

I am not talking about conspiracy theories. I am talking about whoever finishes top of the Championship should replace the team who finished bottom of Superleague.

Murphy IS talking about conspiracy theories, we all think that the top of the Championship should replace the bottom team in Super league. We all knew that this wasn't available this season so it is a bit pathetic to suggest that Leigh has been stitched by an hidden agenda.

Yes, we were all aware of the set up at the beginning of the season, and also content that a pathway to SL had been created,that's why no one probably complained at the time,which is fair enough. Now that the way it's transpired and unfolded,some folk now see a different view of the end result, and don't like how it works,and that to me is also fair enough.It's been a suck it and see scenario,and it for me it needs tweaking a little.

Most fans will have said "it's better than NO promotion/relegation" but it is lopsided, wonder how long the RFL will stick with it ? (if championship clubs continue to struggle)

Good point. I hope they do stick with it, and like i said, tweak it a little.

It's quite simple, if we'd of beaten kr, wakey and fax like we should of, nobody would be moaning about the structure of the middle 8. Just get on with it.

In his statement he does say the other championship teams also are suffering.

But we didn't beat them did we. And as the league table looks now suggest that the four SL clubs have the edge. Now i don't see it as moaning when championship clubs are at a disadvantage. So if we like you say just get on with it and the 4 SL clubs go back up, and the same happens again next season and the rfl say,this is not working and close the door, Then what? I say speak up now and let the rfl know that a little tweaking needs to be done to make it a bit more of a level playing field.

Maybe, but it's not just Leigh who are 'finding it hard'. Bradford may have 4 points and beaten Salford, but they have been thrashed/stuffed 3 times.

You are missing the point of the thread, irrespective of whether the system works/worked or not are you surprised that we get abuse from supporters of other teams when 'our spokesman' Murphy accuses the RFL of having an hidden agenda against Leigh?

Reffy, I know you love a discussion/telling people they are wrong. So an ex player, who also has links with quite a few 'other clubs', talks a load of 'bollox' about our current plight. I saw the article yesterday, and found it embarrassing....to be fair, the Manchester Evening News are stupid for publishing it. Other folk 'drifted off topic' Sir, I can only apologize for doing likewise....

Alex used to say that there is no such thing as bad publicity, but his thoughts won't have done the club any good. Heaven help us if those were the views of the club too - and similar thoughts have indeed been voiced by club officials during the season.

The only conspiracy I'm aware of at the moment, is the one amongst clubs who have all ganged up to beat us on the pitch!

Bit daft to start inventing conspiracy theories. I still think the Super 8s are the way to go. Franchising was a total disaster all round but was brought in because straight promotion and relegation didn't work either; the relegated SL team beat everyone & went straight back up, in order to beat them or to stay up in SL if another team would have to spend a fortune, gamble on staying up (not likely) and face financial turmoil if they failed. Saying that though I do think it needs some tweaks. The transfer deadline was a farce, that needs to be pushed back at least a month and a one year minimum contract length enforced. Also while you can't carry all your points through to The Qualifiers I do think you should carry some though, that'd punish teams like Wakefield who openly said they weren't bothered about their 23 Super League Games while rewarding teams like Leigh who've become as good as they can be in The Championship. I think we'll come back stronger next year but we can't keep up this level getting nowhere forever (look at what happened to Featherstone); if that does happen it'll be wasted potential & lower SL clubs will know they've nothing to fear & go back to the attitude during franchising where ambition was punished. Do think as well Super League clubs shouldn't be making any decisions on how the sport is run, how often do you hear "Super League Clubs voted to..." when that now affects all the other clubs, why are we letting 12 clubs (with a notoriously bad track record (franchising, Dual Code, Scrapping reserves)) run the sport for all 38 clubs?!

Would agree with taking some points over, or even points based on league position would stop teams like wakefeild throwing off the season and also would have stopped bradford from coasting when they knew they where in 2nd and giving games away, made it alot more interesting, but on the other hand would handicap Sheffield/fax as they would have been even further back

Every team in every division of every sport can identify matches they feel they should have won. Just listen to after match comments by coaches/managers. I can see your frustration at losing to KR when you were so far ahead at half-time and losing to Wakey by only 1 point but you were stuffed by Fax. You lost all three matches because you were not good enough to win any of them. As you say "Just get on with it."
