| On a serious note you should have left Ned in charge, instead you replaced him with Rowley who had little experience.

| The club backed the coach at the time and came up with a budget to be worked upon, sadly when the effects of Neil's illness became apparent, the club decided to make the change, sadly the club has got itself relegated and as a result of sums being done before the season, there was little money left for team strengthening until the Corporate Club was formed.
One thing this club does not need is a witch hunt. I'm sure it will take stock with decisions being made that will result in changes. There always are at this time of the season and Ian Millward will come in with his ideas from October and we start again with a new set of directives for the new season, a different squad, maybe even a different attitude. Is it needed? That's not for me to say.
As a reporter I don't believe that I am judge and/or jury unlike some others in this profession. I also don't believe in causing mass hysteria.
It was meant to be the end of the world when people decided to leave the club in the wake of the so called Bensongate, but the club continued. It has survived relegation in the past and will do so again.
In an ideal world I would like to see a pyramid system implemented with two of the countries top amateur teams that sit right on the club's doorstep. There is a unique opportunity for everyone within the town to unite, to look forward together. It starts tonight and tomorrow.
Leigh, a town, a partnership, a future. It's a rollercoaster ride, always has been, always will be. As a club there have been more ups and downs than provided by some sort of demented mole.
It's bury the hatchet time folks, those with grudges get over it, life happens. As a town we have to unite as one, otherwise the sport dies with individuals and we lose our soul, our place, like clubs such as Swinton, such a proud history, traditions but so far away from them now.

Absolutely spot on Dave.
Could our youngsters be amalgamated with the Miners /East youngsters to free money on our salary cap?

| I would investigate every option....
I'm sure there are lots of things everyone could learn from each other and we've seen partnerships working of a fashion, reserve games at Miners for example, I'd like to see these shared evenly with Leigh East as well. I know that wasn't possible this summer, but in future years...
A number of coaches from both the main amateur teams are involved at scholarship level and I look forward to hearing the progress of the LEIGH service area. I know it's something that has been close to Mr Chairman's heart over the recent past.

Sorry to see the reserves having to play at The Miners, they should be always the curtain raiser for the 1st team game IMHO

| I suppose you are then left with the same arguement that resulted in an under 21 team being suspended in 2003 (or the one we heard anyway) - standard of competition

As a reporter you sound very much like an official voice for the club Dave. As for hysteria it's been on the verge of it for a long time thanks to the lack of information the club gives.
I know you know so I really dont need to point out that we have not survived relegation. As to burying the hatchet. Sorry . We as fans deserve more than we have had and to keep everything as it is now without change will just drive more fans away. There are more fans stay away from the club because of the way it is run than because of the results believe me. The fiasco of the presntation today was icing on the cake. It's a sham.

| Can't disagree about the presentation, it cheapened the entire thing.
Each one of those lads should have been welcomed onto the field individually and the cup presented even if they collected it from the stand like the Cup Final, the lads should then have had a lap of honour.
I'm not an official voice for the club as I'm not a paid official. I help out where I can and that help usually co-incides with when proper work allows!
I have never drawn a wage from the club.
Lack of information is nothing new but it must look at changing. I say this every season and I banged my head against that brick wall for 4 long years for the website, I go through a similar process everytime there is a change in the coaching role.
The programme this season has been an excellent source of information and I hope that the club make an early decision, also with someone out there with the contacts and know how of Mike Hulme, who knows what could be achieved?
Roger Halstead does a fine job now for Oldham now his reporting days are behind him.
I don't believe in grudges and I know that people will work hard behind the scenes.
My point was if it all don't pull together it fails, like a house of cards. The club has a responsibility to this, the directors do, employees do, local press do, supporters do, amateur clubs do.
There are politics, there always is but I hope things can change, it might be a little too much utopia but personally and thats me, not reporter, just supporter i'd sooner have that before Super League, then you've got an engaged community, pulling the same way.
Needless to say on my next leave from work I'll be banging the door of the office asking about news...

| If you had a business and the machinery that your business needed was starting to get old and always needed repairing and the opperator of the machinery was set in their ways and didn't want to change it. What do you do. Do you keep the old opperator and keep the old machinery working, loosing out on orders to your rivals and eventually loosing business ? Or do you get new machinery and a new opperator and keep up with the times. We have got the new opperator but the old machinery is going to be still there. This machinery has not worked to its full potential for a few years now. Like I said Dave the way the club has been run (on and off the field) has probably driven away more fans than the results

Well said Dave. I know first hand how you feel. I had 30-odd years of banging my head against a brick wall. Unless it suited the club getting info from club officials (most coaches excepted) was like pulling teeth. Attitudes have to change because I fear unless they do we'll still be having these discussions in five years time!

Think it would actually have a negative effect if played as a curtain raiser as people wouldn't fancy paying £3 a pint over the course of 2 matches, while I'm sure the Miners have been grateful for the income over the bar etc.
Like the idea of rotating games with East as well.

| Shame the council cant let them play on the normal pitch as curtain raisers for our normal mtches, all it would mean, cost wise is a couple of stewards and staff start a couple of hours earlier, surely thats not too costly?

That would mean only opening a certain section of the ground though - what happens when that section is the West (North) section, and people who have season tickets in the North Stand or West (South) Stand want to watch the U20's?
