It was Ian Smith. It is one of those games Alan that really stands out. Not least for the incredible team try but the other thing I remember is we left immediately after the match,heading straight to the Mick Martyn bar that used to open after away games in those days. Already there were Rowley and Bibey.

The Batley one for me was one of those moments you have watching Leigh when your sat thinking 'I cannot believe we have thrown this all away' and up pops Mr Richardson to rescue the game with his error.

Happy days in the final year or so at HP when the players used to join the fans in the Mick Martyn bar for a few drinks! As for Mr Richardson....I always recall he was great with the little'uns in the bar.
