I remember Charlie playing at Leigh towards the end of his Leigh career however, I was too young to understand the finer arts of the game although, I believe Charlie never practised them anyhow
He was distictive on the pitch being tall and rangey and wearing a scrum Cap, I wonder if anyone ever took it off him
He was indeed a Legend not only in Leigh but as far away as Australia! I'll bet there are some Aussies who still bear the scars of their encounters with 'our' Charlie and it is indeed a very sad day to hear of his passing. I do hope the Club remember him in the time honored fashion of, a minutes silence before our next game and, a feature in the match day programme would also be fiiting to this wonderful servant of our club and Rugby League
