Quote ="Tipster Ste"I got thinking after yesterdays game ( dont be to shocked I know) about the number of teams being relegated from our division. Before anyone says its only because my team is in danger then yes you are right for the first time in over a decade I have worried about relegation from this division. But it has got some ground for debate.
How can any league relegate 20% of its teams? In an era when there is NO relegation from the top flight for three years how can it be right that the direct league below loses 20% of its teams on a yearly basis?
I've raised this one before. As I'm in favour of P&R, I have to go with the current situation, but I wonder how comfortably the RFL sits on this one? There is the question of consitency again, surely? No relegation from SL, to give clubs a chance to stabilise. No relegation from Championship 1, as 'amateur' clubs wouldn't cope. (?) Is there an argument that clubs in the Championship should also get an opportunity to stabilise? Well, in one case there is - Toulouse - but not Gateshead! So, we have three leagues - no p&r from one, just relegation from the next, only promotion from the third! Three leagues, three different sets of rules - pure RFL!!
It would be an utter farce, if Toulouse ended up in a relegation spot and the 9th placed team went down!
