To be fair the blame will fall on the players and I don't think they are to fully blame, whilst people may scoff at players being quoted I don't think its too wide of the mark.

I don't reckon they knew what they were filling in really. They should have had better guidance all round. That said ignorance is not an excuse and perhaps said players should have questioned it too.

Surely it's in the clubs (Celtic) interest to ensure the relevant forms were being filled in properly...both the RFL & Celtic cannot completely wash their hands off this debacle.

The book stops with the club and the RFL in this I feel.

I agree. Without wanting to upset anyone or use sweeping generalisations, RL players are know for their intellect so there's every chance that they just wrote their names and signed where they were told to do so.

If it was anyone else say if Widnes had been given the nod instead of their baby CC and they had done the same i am quite confident they would be thrown out of SL no questions asked,maybe other teams visa's should be scrutinised too ie GATESHEAD /OZ.

There seems to be a media feeling that it doesn't matter because it happened when they were in the National Leagues - which aren't important! However, if they hadn't cheated their way out of NL2, then they wouldn't have been in a position, in NL1, to apply for a franchise!

In attempting to ascertain what the RFL punishment might be, I also found out something fascinating about overseas' players from the RFL Operating Rules. However, you'll have to spend £2.50, on a programme, at the Halifax game, to find out what that was!
