| According to BBC website Ottawa Aces are now becoming a Cornwall team playing in division 1, could work out if they have enough money as rugby union rather than soccer is the main sport down there. Going to be based in Penrhyn. The owner has expressed he wants it to become a proper Cornish team made up of Cornish men eventually but guess might need some players from outside the county to start off with. Either way better than blooming Canada.

| It's a heck of a drive to get there, and roads can be a complete nightmare (M5 issues starting as far back as Bristol & beyond) in the summer months.
So it's going to cost NL1 clubs a good few quid in transport costs - likely to be an overnighter or two.

| Fly to Newquay in about an hour probably cheaper than road or rail.

| Penryn is colloquially known as Shagtown, which could promote some interest for away fans.

The better run amateur clubs would have no problem with this. It's once a season, possibly twice. It's been costed at around £6k including an overnight stay. The League 1 clubs should have no problem getting a sponsor to cover that. They could also easily get together as a collective once the fixture lists are revealed and schedule a bulk buy discount. I'd imagine the hotels and coach companies would be quite up for bidding on a contract that includes accommodating 20-30 people bi-weekly from February to October. Again the better clubs can make something of it too, have it as a club event for example, do a team building exercise or PR activity on the Saturday and play on the Sunday.
The drive down is also being massively overrated as an issue. Set off at 5 and you'll be there before McDonalds stops doing breakfast. I'd be there no problem if Saints get them away in the Cup.

It sounds great Cornish lads playing top grade for a cornish team however we cant even get a cumbrian team with cumbrian lads in SL. I wish them the best but it will be a long hard slog

You ever notice how it's always the saints fans that make light of anyone else with a complaint in rl?

It is if you miss the kick off time !!!
Or if several of your p/t players can't get the extra time off work required for extended travel times.

All drama drama drama isn't it. The fixtures aren't decided on the Friday are they. Most will have weeks if not months to plan their annual leave and I suspect most who play semi-professional rugby won't work the weekends anyway. There are amateur national leagues in football and rugby union and they don't struggle with long trips, so I really don't see why RL should.
There are of course issues with the Cornwall experiment. Finding any sort of support base and finding enough players to field a competitive side are the main ones. But League One sides having to hire a coach and drive to Cornwall isn't really one of them. They all managed to get to France and Canada.

| The game desperately needs to expand outside of the M62 corridor to survive, yet all I've read on social media is people moaning about the distance, about traffic, how it will fail in Cornwall etc. Baffling. It's like folk want the sport to continue failing.
This is a huge shot in the arm for the sport and has the potential to grow the game away from the heartlands. The only negative I can think of is not calling the team the 'Cornish Pasties.' It has huge sponsorship potential.

| I don't want the sport to continue failing, but there are many current and past examples of expansion clubs out on a limb struggling or failing to get a foothold.
What disappoints me is the lack of incremental growth from the heartlands outwards over the last 100 yrs, and how the game is predominantly still rooted to small northern towns rather than escalated into big cities.
The enthusiasm and dedication of volunteers to keep the (amateur) game going nationwide is fantastic, but that step up to pro or even semi pro sustainment is a huge way off.
Let's all hope for the best eh.....

Aggregate SL attendances have fallen consistently over the last decade as can be clearly seen.
