| Just heard on the Triple M NRL podcast this morning that the Gold Coast Titans have offered Daryl a contract. We won’t be standing in his way apparently? Anyone else heard that? Thoughts?

He is contracted until 2023 so they would need to make a big offer.

They really don't in this day and age. If a player wants to go, what benefit does playing hardball bring? They won't pay anything alarming as a fee and you'd end up with a sulking, under performing player and a toxic influence in the dressing room. Imagine how much a pull the thought of playing for Justin Holbrook must be.
I take it this is for next season and not this year?

| He's 28 so now is the time to go. He's in the calibre of English players who could make it over there so why not let him go for it. I was surprised he re-signed for us a couple of years ago rather than try the NRL and you never know what private commitments were made to him from the club that they would allow him to explore NRL opportunities if they came up.
Obviously it will be a big loss for us to lose him but he's given us good service in some difficult years so I'd be happy if the club allowed him to pursue something in the NRL. Remember we took him from his hometown club and probably sold him a vision of being a more successful club than we have been, and he missed out on Castleford's best years so maybe sometimes privately he regretted the move, but he hasn't complained and he's been a very consistent performer whatever has gone on around him.

| Would be sad to see him leave super league (although he torments my team every time we play).
I’d like to see him get the recognition he deserves from down under though.
Seems Warrington are ready to let him go without the need of a fee. Bulldogs also interested too

| He's a fantastic player, if he wants a crack in the nrl now is the time and I hope we don't stand in his way to be honest. It will leave us short but could more ratch to 9 and Ashton then gets to start? Danny walker can sink or swim if given the chance. It would free up quite a bit of cap space I would think so could be possible to replace.

| Well, I'd be gutted if he went to Gold Coast. He's going to win nothing there and he'll to end up as one of those top players who didn't win enough.
I'd stand in his way for purely selfish reasons, but if he made it clear he's off, I'd wish him the very best.

| No bitterness from me if he goes. He has always been fully committed when playing for us. He will be a shoe in for England as well if based in the NRL.

| Agree with most on here that Clark deserves a crack at the NRL, and to do it before age prohibits such a move.
Would be sad to see him leave, but would wish him well.

And that's based on what? The Titans are by far the most improved team in the NRL at the moment, they've been fantastic since Holbrook took over. They won 4 games out of 24 in 2019, last season they were favourites for the wooden spoon and finished 2 points off the top 8 after winning their last 5 games. This season they've recruited heavily with the signings of David Fifita, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui and Herman Ese'ese and won 2 of their first 3 games and are 4th in the NRL.
It pains me to say it, but at the moment they've probably got more chance of winning the NRL title than we have of winning the Super League title so you can't just brush it off and say he will never win anything there.

Based on the fact that they won’t be winning the Grand Final anytime soon.
They’re about the 8th best team in the comp.

7th according to the betting.
And even if Titans don't win anything, the experience of playing in the NRL will make him a much better player. Just look at what happened to Williams and Bateman.

| We could potentially lose him, Austin and Widdop with a new coach coming in, be an interesting 12 months to say the least; to see how it all pans out
It is now or never for Clark, ideally I’d like him to stay and we build around him for the next 3-4 years. But if he’s willing to test himself down under I wouldn’t begrudge him on bit, I’ve no doubt he would be a success.

Gold Coast are on the way up under Holbrook.
And Clark’s only won 1 trophy in 6 years with Wire despite their being only 4 good teams in SL.

| I’ll have the image of him celebrating his try saving tackle against Stains in the final, etched forever in my mind.
It was as if he’d scored the winner.
Good luck to him if he decides to go. He deserves it.
No idea why SP didn’t start him yesterday.
Hope it was a slight injury.
If it wasn’t - why the feck would you risk that kind of divisive loss and performance against one of your clear rivals for top 4.

| GUN HOOKER'S NRL HOPES ON HOLD
The Warrington Wolves have poured cold water on reports doing the rounds that 'gun' hooker Daryl Clark has been given permission to negotiate with NRL clubs.
Rated the best hooker in England, Clark is on the radar of the Titans and several other clubs down under.
But a Warrington source has told me his fate will depend on the wishes of the club's next coach, who is yet to be appointed.
Wolves are on the lookout for a coach following ex-Dragons coach Steve Price's decision to move back to Australia at the end of the current season.
Found that through the mole Twitter feed.

Well that means he's not being allowed to leave then doesn't it, any new coach is going to want to keep him.
I wonder if this is because the club worries that it will make the vacancy less attractive if they allow their best player to leave.
I think its a bit harsh personally, given what Clark has contributed to us, and given his age and the fact its now or never for him to pursue a shot at the NRL, and I'd allow him to move if it could be arranged. Now, if the club does want to put their foot down and block it, DC can't really complain because he signed this contract. I just think sometimes, doing the right thing for a player is more important than holding them to a contract, especially if they have been an exemplary professional and consistent performer like Clark, and I'd like to see him have his shot at becoming a top NRL player.
I would say the same if Ratchford or Hill had a shot at the NRL too, although that ship may have sailed.
