Agree with Ratchford at centre and Ashton at the back based on form.

Wasn’t convinced Gelling would be consistent enough for us anyway, irrespective of what he’s allegedly done. Of which I have no knowledge.

This forum is mad. all we ever bang on about is not playing players in their positions and not promoting from within. We post time and time again about how Ratch is a pivot who NEEDS his hands on the ball if we want to make things happen they we suggest he fills in at centre?



We signed a ready made Centre in the off season, Keenan Brand. Gelling out, Brand in.

On the plus side - not a problem with the squad we have. Only problem is fitting everyone in but with injuries and a bit of rest/rotation still looks good

For that to happen Ashton would need to be dropped

Nothing to add in respect to the Gelling rumour (no inside knowledge and I certainly don't believe all that is written on social media) but, if we were to lose a centre due to injury or other circumstances, we have a number of options.

Brand - direct replacement
Charnley to centre, Ashton to wing (I'm not convinced that Charnley is a centre)
With Widdop fit, move Rachford to centre
Burrell to centre (or Hughes when fit)

We're not short of options this season

Please not Burrell. During the brief stint on Thursday he looked a bit like a rabbit in the headlights. There’s was 2 occasions at marker where Austin has to shove him into the right position and tell him where to go as he’s in his heels, and a third on our line where he back peddles like under 7’s, falls over and barely regains his feet before the PTB. A better dummy half would have gone over him there.

Don’t get me wrong, he’s making progress, but if you look at the way King defends, especially from marker, Burrell is miles away. I think he needs a few weeks in the reserves playing 80 minutes, learning in real game scenarios, Just to get game-savvy.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Mamo in the centre, although I’d prefer a genuine centre, in Brand.

I have heard the rumours too and it doesn’t make sense to me (what I’ve been told). We had the Morgan Escare drugs arrest last season which turned out to be false.

I’d await official confirmation before going down the ‘life after Gelling’ line

Warrington Guardian have approached the club for clarification, they have a weekly press conference this afternoon so I'd expect we will hear about this today.

The Escare arrest wasn’t false. It was just covered up by Wigan.

Play Brand, he’s a really exciting young kid but can’t see him getting in which is a shame and a bit of a waste for him. Needs needs to be playing regular rugby at a good standard for his development. Would love him back in black and white

Not spreading rumours and waiting for full confirmation but from the photos I’ve seen, gellings wife and kids have gone home. Hoping beyond all hope for him it isn’t true.
