No Jack Hughes, assume he is being rested?

| The Guardian said that Hughes was being rested.
I am going to guess that Akuola, Davis and Walker will all play. SP could easily replace Lama Tasi with Akuuola without risking his arm but not sure who else would make way.

So potentially
Ratchford
Lineham
Atkins
King
Charnley
Austin
Patton
Hill/Cooper
Walker
Philbin
Currie
Livett
J Clark
Tasi
Sita
Davis
BMM
Clark & Hill/Cooper to miss out?
Hopefully Westwood, Goodwin & Mamo will then be able to come back and boost the squad at Easter.

I think I would be a little more conservative;
Drop Tasi, include Clark, and if the match goes our way bring Walker on from the bench for the remainder of the game.
Then perhaps give Cooper a rest this week (because Hill would probably tear Price's arm off if he tried to rest him).

| With Jack Hughes not in the squad, Hill will most probably play otherwise we are without a regular skipper. It'll be interesting to see who takes the role if/when Hilly is off the field. Ratchford?
(Or.... with it not being a TV game, maybe we won't need somebody to have the mysterious VR decisions 'explained' to them.... ?)

| I cant believe what i'm reading tbh, have I missed something? are we playing Dewsbury or Barrow or something? We have a Super League fixture on Friday don't we? that should be treated with total respect. Okay we now know Hughes will be rested so after that now we go as strong as possible and treat the opposition as we would a Wigan, Saints or Leeds. Jeeez can you imagine the stink on here if we rested Hughes, Hill, Clark etc and lost the game! Even seen someone say rest Austin! I mean wowsers! A win please Wire and '
put your foot to their throats'

I don't think you've read everything properly, Hughes is being rested and the only other person (apart from 1 single comment about resting Hill) really being talked about being changed is Tasi. So a bit of an overraction.

I assure you I have read it properly, from this thread, other threads and facebook. More than 'over reaction' I would say 'opinion' is a better choice of word......the basis of a good forum. Some mention Walker to start and leave Clark out completely, as ive said someone suggested Austin sit this one out.

If you look at the problem from the coaches POV you see he is juggling several balls in the air;
Toby King needed tackling practice and to improve defence so he was stuck in the BR for a few games - weakening the side, he is not a BR forward. Jake Mamo needed game time to gel with the team so he has been squeezed in and played FB, Centre, Wing. He is clearly a wing that can cover other positions and moving him around is not ideal - but it plans ahead for injury problems. Matt Davis is a Championship player, but if he doesn't get any game time he will never develop. With the end of April approaching the coach needs to decide if he is going to keep fringe players like Akauola, so really they need a game. And then there is the mad Easter period with not just fatigue but a higher risk of injury to worry about.
I think the one thing that you can guarantee is that SP will pick a side he believes can beat the opposition, but outside of that you can expect change for all the above considerations. I think a few posters were having a bit of fun with some of their suggestions but you can bet that SP will certainly try and rest some players either by omission, or on the bench during the game.

Cheers Winslade, appreciate the sensible come back. I agree with all you say there, players do need to stay involved and ready, thus far it has usually been one man at a time for example like you highlight the Mamo situation which is absolutely fine. And as it looks here one player whether it be Akouala or Davis will come in for Hughes, no problem at all. I appreciate and apologise if I have picked up my 'mass changes' theme from other threads or social media and thrown it in here and confused this thread a little.

No problem, no need to apologise. Its a forum with lots of valid views. Some people will be very conservative, others rather more 'adventurous' in their picks. Fortunately none of us are the coach LOL.

Not sure young Danny Walker has the engine yet for a full 80 minutes yet.
So if Clark is on the bench, then he would have to play.
As I have posted on the Matt Davis thread, he too has played hooker in the past for London.

Opinions are fine, BBFC, not everyone agrees. Just one point I'd raise is that, mostly, were debating a 19 man squad. Therefore, we are just putting forward some permutations that could happen, rather than calling for several changes. Within the 19, we don't know if there are any fitness doubts, so SP may play his best available fit 17, but it might look like he's made changes from last week.
ATEOTD, we can only guess (excepting Longbarn, usually).

| 2k tickets sold to school children & teachers in the West stand after a £1 promotion for children.
A great initiative and hopefully we can build on it season on season and look to increase that further. Hopefully the club can see the breakdown by school and work on those that didn't have a great uptake in 2019 for the next one in 2020.
Possibly worth looking at making it a Saturday / Sunday afternoon game next time?

Fantastic initiative and agree with you.
My dad took me to Wilderspool when I was 10 and we watched the games from the old wooden stand. I can remember being very bored at first and was more interested in the trains shunting up and down the line than watching the match. I think it probably took me 5-6 games or so before I really became interested, it was certainly after I recognised the players on the pitch and recalled their names. So my point is, they really do need to follow up this initiative with several more otherwise I think many of the kids will just forget about it. There is plenty of room in the West, I think it holds 3,200 so they could certainly mix in away supporters from most of our games. Might need to supply ear plugs to block out some of the chants though.

| I think the key bit is setting a scene for the parent or accompanying adult. If we get it right, and it’s a social atmosphere and a good value fun day with other bits of entertainment to add to the day (music, dancers, games etc) there’s a chance some will come back. I think it’s a great initiative

| Only thing that can go wrong is if 500 of Millwall's finest turn up to support their north London RL cousins & get stuck in the west stand with the invited school kids . I think i would fear for the boys from the Den !
