| As a neutral I have long been an admirer of Hills but over the past couple of seasons he has showed a nasty side to his game.
Just follow him closely during games and watch how he likes nothing better to arrive second or third in the tackle and
force his forearm or elbow into a player laid on the ground. A nasty cowardly trick from a once great player.

| I wouldn't go that far...he is a poor penalty machine at times but he's also a great metre maker.

Good, this is Rugby League; Not Tiddlywinks.
We were all moaning a few seasons about how our pack was getting walked over every week and how we needed a bit of attitude and backbone. I welcome a bit of C**t in the forwards.

| He needs to control his frustration though... a lot of backchat which is not good for a Captain. I'd like to see him given a bit of a break from that role to concentrate on doing what he does best. He also gives too many pens away right on the last tackle.
Austin seems ready-made for the Captain's role and is rock steady... Also when Widdop is here nest year surely he will be given a chance.

| Is this a joke post are what. Top meter making, top carries and only 4 penalties. Austin as given away more penalties. The more tackles you make these days the more penalties you will give away due to the inconsistency and management of the ruck area. Get a grip!!!

How I wish for the the good old days, when you could rotate your props, with 12 interchanges
Imagine this poster"s favourite 4 props getting regular breathers
Kofi Annan
Boutros Boutros Ghali
Mother Theresa
Mary Whitehouse
A good, decent and wholesome four, who's always apologise if they caught you on the chest. That, and their forward coach, Sgt Wilson from Dad's Army
"Would you mind awfully, if you chaps could just play touch rugby? All this tackling is really rather rough"

| He's trying to be an enforcer type, but it's just forced. Westwood played that kind of role well, he knew when to step it up, when to cop a penalty in order to inspire a reaction from his own players.
Hill just seems silly doing it. A proper hard man like Morley would laugh at him.

| Point of order, Mr Chairman, but who exactly is Chris Hills?
Is he a distant cousin of James Childs, and the Tompkins family?
Have we bought another player? Surely that will put us over the salary cap.

| Strangely I agree with Saddened. It’s not a natural element to his case, if he wants to prove how tough he is, gob shut, head down and crack on.
If you’re going to sacrifice someone to get under the skin of players and be a wind up merchant, pick a bit part player (See R. Bailey mid-2000s) who comes on, ruffles some feathers and disappears again. Westwood is the perfect guy for that, if we decide we need one. Pantomime villain already.

| I don’t think he is trying to be a hard man. He does tend to lie on and being such a big lump doesn’t allow himself enough time to get up. As far as the gobbiness is concerned, he isnt anywhere near the masters of the art, J Wilkin, Sinfield, Brough, S Tomkins etc (even our own Mr Briers).

Summed up very well there Captain the salient point being "masters of the art" like them or loathe them Wilkin Sinfield Tomkins effectively controlled games when it was needed. Briers less so IMO although he was the cheekiest out of the bunch and enjoyable to watch as a Wire......Chris Hill however hasn't got 'it 'he comes across as whiny and petulant I'd love him just concentrating on rugby like he does for England and lead by example as he's definitely got that skill set

| My theory on Hill is that he's carrying a lot of frustration because he's become another Stuart Fielden. He spent his early days as one of the top props in the world and he's gone on a premature decline in his late 20s, in to the ranks of the half-decent rather than great.
Remember when he first joined, for his first two years, he was our best prop. Seeing as the other props on our books at the time were Morley, Carvell, Wood and Cooper, and Hill was coming out of being semi pro at Leigh, that's pretty incredible. I remember watching him in the 2013 World Cup and thinking he's better than Sam Burgess in an England jersey.
I don't think he's tanked quite as sharply as Fielden, and he improved last year relative to the year before, but his career has not gone on the trajectory you would have expected a few years ago. I thought he would have followed Burgess and Graham to the NRL and dominated down there.

| I think he's still got it, somewhere, which makes an appearance less frequently. I thought he was good when he came on for England v the Kiwis and he was excellent in the Leeds home game. Perhaps giving the captaincy to some one else would help focus his attention more on his own game again.

| I think you are being harsh Sally. Fielden fell off a cliff, I suspect the long stints Hill has had to put in over the last few seasons and no propr time off has taken its toll. He is still making metres, and “that” pass from a prop...sublime.

| Ridiculously harsh. Hill is still a class act regardless of any petulance. Id rather have him than current Sam Burgess who is living on past glories.

| You so called Warrington fans make me laugh. Hill has carried your forward pack for the last 7 years. He is still one of the best props in SL and doesn't deserve all this cr*p. Some people are never satisfied and have selective memories. Wish he still played for Leigh, we wouldn't be in the state were on now. Top bloke and top player.

| Hilly was brilliant in the England shirt & him Cooper & Westwood ,when he played, were much better than the much hyped Burgess brothers despite their Aussie stamp of approval.
Hill's best performance seems stifled by petty gripes at the minute possibly because of the captaincy.
