Well I’m thinking Crosby if story of him going to Salford as any truth to it.

i'm not as up on the nrl as i used to be, i was under the impression he was a backrow.

that said, slightly exciting that we're looking at slightly younger nrl players again. RAther than end of career options.

I had in my head he was a 13 too, which would suggest Westwood might be finishing up, although I guess it would depend on whether we could see a use for Westwood as interchange prop/13 and could fit him in under the cap at a value he was happy with.

This looks like a good signing.

At the start of the season the club were on record as being in the hunt for a 13 and/or 9 with Kurt Baptiste being a target. Since then first Smith, and now Patton, have been taking the role of interchange hooker with Clark doing long minutes at 9 and also playing at 13 when Patton takes the dummy half role. Westwood has surpassed all expectations putting in some excellent shifts at 13.

If Westwood feels that he could go on for another year then, based on this year’s performance, he would make a useful squad player covering prop / back row.

No issues with Westwood. JP was playing at KR at 40 was it?
Seen a couple of Souths games and although it was before my brain engaged...if ever, I think he was playing front row not back...or like a combo of both.

I hope that this does not mean a replacement for Currie ?

Currie is under contract, that's his insurance. I'm hopeful for him but I think he should start looking at options too.

No one at the club will want Currie to leave, and they will leave no stone unturned trying to get him back playing again.

What we will have next year are some pretty strong, young backrow options:

Clark 30
BMM 27
Hughes 26
Currie 24 (hopefully)
Livett 21

You would expect Clark to play some pretty decent minutes from 13, possibly being given a breather with a rotation prop. That would leave BMM, Hughes, Currie (hopefully) and Livett all vying for 2 spots. Can possibly see one leaving at the end of 2019?

A very good signing, and another player who can provoke message board banter by having his surname constantly misspelled, so that's a win-win.

He's a small prop/second row with no ball handling skills as far as I can remember. He's a solid pro, and good luck to him.

As a souths supporter it’s a bit well, meh. Workman like is how I would describe him. He won’t break a tackle or pass the ball but will always give 110%. Much better options out there for south’s but should do well in superleague as the standard is much lower

A forwards prime is often around 27-29...so you gave to ask the question... why is he surplus to requirement?
If he starts the way Cuthbertson did for Leeds, he'll do for me.
