| So...after Easter, 9th in the table with 7 points from 10 games.
What is the rest of the season about?
Top 4 looks unlikely. Both Wigan and Hull (4th/5th) have 13 from 10, it will be a big ask to get more than three clear wins than both those sides in the rest of the season. My guess from here is that Hull will end up overhauling Salford so the top 4 will end up as Cas, Leeds, Wigan and Hull in whatever order.
So more realistically it's about avoiding the Qualifiers and playing out the final games of the season in the anticlimax but relative comfort of being also-rans in the Super 8s, where we could look at some young players and see how they handle SL ahead of next season.
The little mini league of clubs fighting to avoid bottom 4 will be competitive. Widnes look off the pace and are probably destined for the Qualifiers but there are then three clubs all about the same standard - us, Hudds and Leigh, plus a couple who are probably a bit better (Catalans and Saints).
Wakefield are the interesting one. They are on 10 from 10 and their next 5 games are against us, Catalans, Leigh, Widnes and Hudds. If they get 3 or 4 wins they could start putting daylight between themselves and the bottom 4 which will mean us having to not only hold off Hudds and Leigh but also overtake Saints or Catalans. If Wakefield stutter in those next 5 games, particularly if we beat them, they could be our target team to chase down.
My guess is at the season split point we will be somewhere between 7th and 10th. It will probably make the league part of the season more interesting than it has been for a while as this battle to avoid the bottom 4 will be close.

| Win all remaining games. We should be higher in the league with the squad we have.

I am told it's all about a quick play the ball now and having centres take the ball up from our own line.

| I expect us to be in the middle 8's.
I don't think the table will change much at all from its current standings.
Our only hope of finishing in the Super 8's is if Wakefield go on a poor run.
And we still won't sack our coach. ....absolutely horrendous.
Maybe when the reality of playing Featherstone away and struggling, sinks in, something will happen but this season is THE worst I have experienced.

| We'll finish 5th/6th at the end of the regular rounds and come the end of the super 8's the top 4 will be:
Wigan
Leeds
Cas
Wire
We'll travel to Leeds and loose out by 2 points.
You heard it here first.

| I am probably expecting us to finish outside of the top 8 and be playing qualifying games against championship clubs.
I was quite excited after the Leeds game that maybe we had turned a corner and would go on to play a bit of rugby... But the last 2 games, while we have won them, have been absolutely horrendous to watch... We just have to accept that we are a pretty poor side this year.
The bottom 3 teams are probably Widnes, Leigh and Huddersfield... then like Sally said, Wakefield are probably the key to our final league position... i fear we are going to finish 9th.

| With the exception of Cas, no team has been outstanding this year. If (big if), we were to go on a run and grind out some results, then i see no reason why we cannot challenge for a top 4 place, not saying we will, however based on other teams, and the fact no one is setting the world alight, it is a possibility.
Personally i think we will finish in the top 8 , overall 5th or 6th after the 8's. I still want a change in coach though...........

| At least this year we have had to blood a few more youngsters & the experience will do them good ,but i think the honours this year will be decided by how clubs manage injuries & their reserve player strength. Apart from Wigan ,who just seem to keep producing talented kids, some of the teams who are over performing this year are made up promising young players & experienced old stagers . There must be some teams above us who are just a couple of injuries away from imploding.

| This thread just that some people are only intent on slagging the team off regardless of the situation. Only a few weeks ago the comments were "we just need a win", don't care how we play just 2 points" We go 4 games unbeaten and its now all about how we are playing poor and the quality of rugby is shocking. It baffles me, you your money to be entertained, the game goes to the last second and moan its boring.

It's all part of the grieving process from the start of the season thinking we will pick up from where we left off, challenging for top prizes to the stark realisation we are back to being also rans again this season like 2015. We've had denial, pain, anger and bargaining, so now we move into reflecting. We could reflect as to why instead of getting incrementally better, strengthening and refining, we find ourselves struggling to beat Huddersfield, unable to score against Widnes for 45 minutes, and needing at least 4-5 new players for 2018.

| Just to play hard and win as many as possible with out folding and giving up. I think we will finish 5th or 6th so I hope we back up everything by the end of the year and do us proud. We are slowly putting performances together so I hope we can continue and put the first half of the season behind us. C'mon boys

| I'm with Moving Forward and LOngbarn and think that we will be in the top 8 at 6th.
My concern is that I don't think that we will have enough to trouble 4th spot and we will playing dead rubber rugby as soon as we lose a top 8 game. Although that said it could be the closest 1-8 yet as teams are beating each other, or so it seems and it might provide a more interesting season finale than previous years with more teams in the mix.

| I've said somewhere on the forum. We will go on to be team of the month this April. I also bet Wire at 28/1 to win the GF and 11/2 for the CC as a double. A
So I predict 4th at Rnd 30.

| IMPROVMENT !!!
I would like to see us improve on a weekly basis not just the younger players gaining experience but as a team we must improve all aspects of our game starting with the basics !!!
It's crazy to think we will go from 0 points in league to all of a sudden playing free flowing unstoppable rugby I want us to end the season with more optimism going into next year now
I Think this team as they are currently playing does not look likely to win any silverware this year so I am now looking to next season
It's also very hard to judge based on our last two games As we're looking more shattered now than I can remember playing with two interchanges against Widnes then such a short turn around has had a big impact on the players I just hope that they can get some rest and be fit to go against Wakefield.

| Ridiculously, after the start to the season that we had, we are still only 6 points off fourth spot. Wins can build confidence, confidence can build better performances, and I don't see any reason why we can't get to the split in 5th or 6th place. With everyone taking points off everyone else then there is no reason why we can't still make the top four and from there who knows. Having said that, and if I had to bet on it, I suspect we'll ultimately finish just outside the four.

I'm more of an ardent observer on this forum rather than a regular poster Sally, but I'd be really interested to hear your views on what steps we should take with Smith at the end of the season. I agree 7th - 10th seems likely and I've not seen anything in the improved performances that sets us apart from Hudds, Wakefield et al.
Would you consider a fresh start with a new coach? And if so, who would that be? Chester, Watson and Powell all tied down to their clubs with recent deals of course.

| I'm a lot happier than I was a couple of weeks ago. Performances (Leeds aside) are not convincing but the run is what the doctor ordered. Win this weekend and we're a point off the 8, although a fair bit off 4th and with a tough run to come. We need some bodies back soon that's for sure. I think we will finish top 8. My expectation is that we up our performance level and given ourselves an outside chance of top 4, plus a good cup run would be very welcome this year.

| Attempt to stay out of the middle 8's...
I'd also like to see us stick with the likes of Livett,Philbin,Patton and Julien and look towards phasing out the ridiculous mish mash of a 3/4 line we've had for nearly 2 years...
Give up Kevin Brown as a bad job (not likely I know)
Also with a favourable draw and the fact that we have the odd decent performance in us maybe a return to Wembley..

| I'd be happy with each and every player putting in 100% each and every game. Nice to be on a winning streak again, an improvement each game would be good to see, but after Leeds we seem to have lost our way again.
Is it just Currie that is still on the long term injury list now who would be expected to slot straight back in?
Did I hear right that we have an interest in Mead from Brisbane and that he can be made immediately available salary cap permitting?
