| AS has made a fantastic start to the season. Hardly a sniff of the 'new signing gelling in' condition we hear which, supposedly is to exist!!!
A superb solo effort in his last try....the type of effort I thought only Ratchford could create.
I've always liked AS, he plays well ahead of his years and was gutted when he extended his Stains deal and us seemingly losing out.
AS probably the is nearest player in type we have to Bateman at the Pies. Great vision, good hands, solid defence and the odd occasional sweet kick ahead.
A thought....would it be a thought to play AS as Pies occasionally do with Bateman??...
Switching of roles of right flank backrow or right centre when requied?
Could he slot into right centre and ease some issues on that side? We are not short of backrowers this season.
I'd like to see Currie eventually do the same over on the opposite flank!
AS is looking easily the best preseason signing so far.

| Agreed RD. Just hope we can persuade him to extend his contract to beyond this year as he's set his sights on the NRL apparently.

| He certainly has some x factor in attack, I think defensively he looks a little lazy at times, but we will see how he progresses through the season.

He's made more, and missed less, tackles than Jack Hughes who frankly has been very poor so far this season and he offers infinitely more in attack.

That's why I wrote so far. I am quite aware we were commenting on Savelio and Hughes over the same time period.

| Actually I'm really surprised that's the case over his defence.
There was a lot of criticism here about that aspect of his game after last weeks defeat.

I'm not a fan of either to be fair but Hughes has been much more solid than Savelio.
not interested in stats as ten missed tackles can lead to nothing at all on occasions but two missed tackles can mean two tries in another two instances.
Thats the difference between Savelio and Hughes for me.
Savelio's recent wild and obvious high and weak arm grabs have resulted in tries.
if Jack hughes has dropped off a three man tackle but the attacker is brought down a yard later by the remaining two so what...
either way we have no visible replacement for Ben Westwood.......

as in my previous post I'm not too keen on him (as a back rower) at the minute. However during the CAS game and in particularly the peak of Rhys Evans nightmare I must admit to thinking Why not try Savelio at Centre....its a good shout.

| He is doing OK. But far from the finished article. And light years behind some of the best young back rowers in the country
In attack his running lines with the ball tends to run into his centres space. He sometimes arcs around leaving no room for the centre and winger. The lines he runs without the ball are far from Simon grix standard yet (I am sure he will get there though) but a couple nice tries in the bag.
In defence he is OK. But it is the extra effort to wrestle rather than just be happy he has made the tackle. Young players struggle with this because it takes a lot of effort like putting pressure on kickers. in these department he is far from Ben Harrison.
He has a lot of potential though but there's a lot of small things to do to get the level he needs to be at but if he stays focussed he could be very good.

| Yes, I would agree he looks promising. He seems particularly difficult to bring down both because of his footwork, and use of the arms to dislodge the tackler. But I think his main problem atm is in defence which is nowhere near good enough. Waving his arms at the attacking player is is much closer to what I normally see at a typical U19 game and he should be beyond the 'directing traffic' stage by now.
